The policy remained until 1973 - to appease the racists, they introduced the current monetary rules mentioned elsewhere. The "white" policy was also used by PM Stanley Bruce as a link to the British Empire The rules you wish to emulate are the hangover of this.
yeah I just made it up trust me, it's simple to get a visa for Oz. mine was processed in a matter of hours
I wish to deny benefits to people who come here and have never worked regardless of colour, colour don't come into it.
But you cited Australia as an example to follow - they didn't arrive at the current situation by design. If we had followed their example, your national football team would be ****ing awful. If you are going to suggest Australia as an example to follow on immigration policy, you can't ignore the circumstances that led them there.
no it was in 2008. I think it was $180 I've still got the e-mail if you want to see it? you get them here: http://www.immi.gov.au/visawizard/
very true.. I think the thing that gets me is that all the eastern europeans that are free to come here and work and to be fair most of them do, that they are entitled to child benefit and housing benefit instantly.. I have no grudge against people coming here and taking jobs the british are to up their own arse to do.. but I dont think they should be instantly allowed to claim benefits.. To counter youre arguement as to what if the job doesnt exist when they get here... well most of the people here turn up looking for work and when they dont findd one claim benefits.. If however there was an instance as you suggest perhaps they could claim benefits for a period of 6 months but then when they get work its factored into their tax code so they have to pay it back.

It's the same for Brits who go to Spain, where Spain pay them benefits. However, and this is the good point, the money is recovered from the home Member State. We bill all countries where we provide their citizens with benefits, and likewise we are billed by other member States where they pay out to UK citizens.
Would that only apply if that type of benefit exists in that country? My family live in Spain and to be fair My sisters and my brother in laws business are struggling an the spanish give them no help what so ever.
