Thought that would be the giveaway <laugh> for me Leicester are my main rival for obvious reasons, specially after these last 2 seasons.

I actually follow city because, well put it this way, me and my cousin and my cousins 2 week old daughter are the only ones from the entire family not been born in east Yorkshire, so I've inherited my love for the tigers, been brought up on it since I was a baby.

We shouldn't tar all Leicester fans with the same brush. I have known a couple of lads from Leicester for about 15 years now and they are spot on.

They would look down on all the warring going on here, for sure.

And as for Hull City, we have our fair share of arse holes too!

The Hull hatred to Leeds isn't limited to football. There is a bigger rivalry between our rugby league teams who have for the most part recently always played in the same league. That and the crap they give us for not being Yorkshire during the Humberside days.

I used to get teased in school, but not because we were ****, but because no one had ever even heard of Hull, the other kids used to ask why I didn't support an English team <laugh>

Addistiger omits to mention that Leeds, during their best times, were managed by an ex Hull City player Don Revie, during that period. I was pleased they did well - 1, because of Don Revie 2, they were a Yorkshire team and 3,
they were keeping the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Man U, and Notts Forest out of the lime light.

The Hull Whites still have a massive chip on their shoulders.

Can't abide the scumbags. I lived in Leeds for 12 years during their glory days in the 70's and kinda respect Leeds fans in their hometown - the rag bag remnants that still survive in Hull continue to frustrate though.

Same with Dull FC eggchasers, the majority of which have nothing good to say about us but continue to be the bane of my life- in the past when we were habitual strugglers they said we were just cr*p and now we have had success and continue to do so they are just plain jealous.

Funny how alot say they're FC/KR and yet support Leeds Utd or some other cities team.

Think there's more animosity between City fans of that era and the fans of the rl teams, those of Gateshead Sharks in particular, than there has ever been Leeds Utd.

Although i think there's been a thaw of sorts since our recent successes.

Tried getting my head around this eggchasing habit of supporting a so called top football club.

If they like football that much to adopt another team why the fook don't they watch the game in the first place?

My own take on the younger eggchasing element is that they choose to watch RL because its far far easier for the likes of Hull FC to be successful in a 14 team so called Super League FFS than it is for City to succeed in a 92 Club PL/FL. The same reason they 'support' a top 4 PL Club.

Heard a converation between some old gits in my local just last night (Dull FC supporters and eggchasing experts of the oval ball game) and the jealousy they have of City is unbelievable - that said they are tight fisted - don't go to all home games types - won't (or can't) pay the so called hiked up prices they rant about at the KC. They represent everything negative about the city that I love.

John Firth, that right there is the best post iv'e ever read ! My story is nearly a photocopy ! Happily my dad's still around and sits next me in east stand. He alway's told me that he'd never see the top flight. He did of course, but has a rather anoying habit of telling me were never going to do it again (pessimistic old sod).

But the rest of your'e memories and the way you put it ring's so many bells. Cheers John

What is it with Hull and the lack of optimism, the lack of belief?!

How things have changed, I started watching City in 1958, and football has always been my first love. I played amateur league to a reasonable level, and never played rugby. However we used to watch City one week when at home and when they were away and too far for us to travel we went to watch Hull FC at the Boulevard. In those days watching any live sport was a delight, and its a pity there is so much bitterness between the two sports these days.

You had to live through it I suppose to really understand, but for me football is more than just winning and losing, it's about a bond with friends and them days out with yer dad too.
Managers'owners and players come and go but us fans will always be there like Bill Shankly said "it's not a matter of life and death, it's more importantant than that " :)

for me the Leeds thing isnt about their local fans , its about those that are from Hull , tho its not a hatred , its more pantomime than that.

Also as a kid growing up and watching local TV (Calendar n Look North covered the whole region then) its was Leeds this , Leeds that and it became quite galling .
Hatred to any club has got to be a bit weird as i have a good grasp on reality .

Very well put, my sentiments exactly. I was perhaps fortunate that all my school mates were City supporters and we all went together and had certain rituals for meeting up and where we stood and what we chanted - wonderful stuff! Do wish I'd made it to Wembly!

Never been to a rugby match, just never had any interest but I look for Rovers' and Hull's results and like to see them do well - it's good for the City.

used to do the same , i'd quite happily watch FC when City wern't at home , tho FC was always free , ive never once paid to watch rugby.
Plus we used to have O'Hara Leuleuai n Kemble visit our school to brainwash us into playing rugby - as soon as the bell rang we was in the school yrd playing football :D
