    Put it this way. Liverpool finished 6th last season and didnt qualify for Europe.

    It needs 2 top 5 teams to be in the FA Cup final and win League Cup.

    Simple.

    Yeah but dont europa cup winners get a euro spot for the following season?.. if so.. and the winner already has qualification through other means, where does the spare place go?

    If Liverpool win the League Cup, then we can finish 6th or 7th with the same result. If the FA Cup final is contested by two top 5 teams and we finish 6th then we get the spot. If this happens, and we finish 7th with Liverpool 6th, the spot would go to Liverpool but they would have already qualified through the League Cup meaning the spot would go to us.

    Very confusing.

    Ok, I'll try a simple explanation

    -Standard........ 5th is Europe
    -Winner of LC is top 5..... +1 Europe spot
    -both FA cup finalists are top 5 (or LC winners)..... +1 Europe Spot

    Think that's it?!?!

    (edit: +1 means next team down who aren't already in Europe)
