I just wouldn't play Shola - we need pace against Fulham imo. Obertan would probably do a better job up front.

Drop Leon???? Nah you can't drop a goalscorer in form. We need an actual striker on the pitch. You've sparked me into formation porn now....................

    Krul
    Simpson Willo Colo Santon
    Abeid
    Raylor Guthrie
    Jonas
    Best Benny
Diamond like last week once Cabaye went off. Jonas looked really effective in the hole. Might have been Derry's booking and immobility but maybe he is just useful there. Cabaye will play in my opinion.

I actually like this. If Shola was in goal he wouldn't be offside the whole time.

How did Man U set up against Fulham when they beat them 5-0 at the Cottage?

    I'd play that formation :)

Replace shola with Vuckic. While I know Vuckic is an attacking mid i have seen enough to know he could do 10x the job of shola in that position.

The same team we played after he went off against QPR except Obertan in for Shola.

    Krul
    Simpson Williamson Colo Santon
    Guthrie Raylor
    Benny - - Gutierrez - - Obertan
    Best

The formation looked good and by putting Best up front we have more round pegs in round holes. Perhaps moving Obertan to the left will make him play better as he only really looks threatening when he cuts inside.

Anyway why are we bothering ourselves with all this thought and formation porn. We all know Shola is starting again. I'm glad its away. I think the bloke next to me at the match might explode if he knew he was being treated to another Shola Show! Haha

Well you obviously didn't watch the Liverpool game where he was totally swamped. Up on on his own against Fulham's defence he'd get destroyed. He's not great in the air and he still has a lot of developing to do.

He was good vs WBA, but against a sturdy and well organised side like Fulham, he'd not do well IMO.

Actually, scratch my original formation. I agree with Smudgers. I've had enough of Shola.

That line up looks great mate.

    Very original ;) haha.

Would stick a team with pace out against them. They hate it - their players are old and slow and if we give Benny and Jonas the licence to do what the want, I think we could batter them. But, we won't - we will play Shola :emoticon-0116-evilg

As if Shola would have dominated Liverpool? It's irrelevant anyway as Vuckic is a second striker/attacking midfielder, he couldnt lead the line.

I know one thing, Simpson is going to have to be on his game if Frei plays. He is a superstar in the making and could make most full backs look very silly.

Is he starting games now? Heard good things but thought he was still at the "impact sub" phase.

    ----------------------Krul--------------------
    Simpson --- Williamson --- Coloccini --- Santon
----Raylor --- Guthrie --- Ben Arfa --- Jonas
    --------------------Vuckic------------------
    ---------------------Best------------------

1). Having Ben Arfa changed the game in our favour. He gave us spark in the midfield and it worked. Keep him in.

2). Raylor isn't a particularly amazing player but he will get crosses in. If Obertan is fit, MAYBE play him for the extra pace

3). Vuckic has a lethal shot on him, and whilst he wasn't so effective in CM, I think he'll play a blinder in his natural position

4). Best is the striker most likely to score goals

We're weakened without Tiote and Cabaye, so 4-5-1 is really going to be better so we keep more control. If we go all gung ho away to Fulham at their own ground we could get spanked. Maintain control, maintain possession and grind out a win.

Didn't play v Blackburn like. Does look a decent prospect, but I'd be more worried about Dempsey. Doesn't he usually play from the left?

Ben Arfa in CM? No way that's working, Guthrie isnt even particularly defensive minded.
