Goalkeepers and the Media

Had a quick look and couldnt see a article on this.

Why do we keep getting linked with Goalkeepers. Today its Stephen Henderson:

Last week it was Vrom. We already have 3 top goalkeepers and Elliot who i doubt anyone has seen enough of to comment (except possibly Charlton fans.)

Krul has to be up with the best inform keepers in the Prem, enough said.
Harper is coming to the end of his career but has been a great servant to the club and could still IMO act as cover for Krul.
Foster made a big blunder in the Leeds friendly but has proved he is good enough to hold done the number 1 Jersey for Celtic for almost two seasons now so he most have something however due to his age and Krul's development will probably be sold now. Cant see him wanting to understudy when he can move to Celtic and be number 1.
Elliot weird decision to buy this guy for me. Pards must have known or seen something about the guy but can only see him getting splinters unless something serious happens to Krul.

Given the above plus we have Solberg coming through the ranks who is supposed to be a prospect why do we need another one? If anything we need to offload two.

I would hope that Harper either gets the opportunity to go and get first team football or maybe if we have space helps out with coaching at NUFC.

Forster looks set to move and i think has said so in the press now.

That leaves us about right with a great No1 back up and a prospect.

Any further signings surely just gives us more problems!

We're being linked with goalkeepers because Krul is being linked with Tottenham.

 

Harry's being linked to every player in the PL. The man's a muppet.

Harper retiring soon maybe?

 

Forster will sign for Celtic, Harper will leave when his deal expires at the end of the season - if not before as will possibly Soderberg. Then we will be a bit short as I don't think Alnwick will be ready then.

Obviously, Vorm is a bit OTT - he won't come as cover, but maybe somebody like Henderson will come in.

 

I suspect Harps wants first team football and may be moving on or at least out on loan. I hope we're going to show him the due respect he deserves and treat him well, bloke has been loyalty personified. Also what I've seen of Elliott, he looks poor. Maybe they took a punt (he was cheap) and have found him not quite making the grade. You should always be looking.

 

Would be wise to cover our backs and inquire about keepers in case someone comes and offers big bucks for Krul, we'd be able to snap up somebody else and not have to wait two transfer windows like we did to replace Carroll.

Harper and Forster will both probably be leaving soon, unfortunately. That means we'd just have Elliott as understudy to Krul, as Soderberg wont be ready yet.

 

I've never understood why we're always linked with them either, considering how stacked we are with keepers at every level.

Swedens U21 keeper and two England youth international keepers in our ranks.

Of course if Harper was sold, as well as Forster if would be down to Elliott and Soderberg if something happened to Timmy which wouldnt fill me with too much confidence. They obviously see something in Elliott though. I cant.

That tickled me that comment, probably because it struck a chord! Am I alone in thinking he looks like he enjoys a beer and a pie?

 

Nope! He seems rather dizzy on twitter too. Nice lad, but i bet he cant believe his luck that he's at a Premier League side of this size.

He must come from a reccomendation from th GK coach that was at Charlton, but surely that cant be all? It was a wierd appointment at the time and it still is now.

 

Pardew? lol. He gave him his Charlton debut.

 

Krul's great but Spurs are after him so we could loose him, Harper is getting on a bit and hasn't got that many years left, Soderberg still a bit too young, Forster is leaving for Celtic and Elliot is ****e. As to how much better this Henderson lad will be compared to Elliot I'm unsure of so I don't want him. I'd like to get Vorm, Imagine having Krul with Vorm on the bench! It'll be like the Given-Harper battle. Both quality keepers pushing for the number 1 spot. However There are many other areas we need to improve and by players for before we get a goalkeeper so it's probably just media bollocks.

 

Vorm was a non story, that link was rubbished.

Harper is retiring/leaving soon regardless.

This article about Stephenson or whatever he's called clearly states he's a backup plan if we do lose Krul. We need to have options.
