Yes I would change it by going with McLean up front on his own rather than Fryatt. Something needs to change and King is not yet match fit so will probably only be sub.

Just slightly off topic but if NP played Fryatt up front on his own like NB did against Peterborough there would be a lot of City fans slating him

Well the law of averages is firmly on Citys side as each match goes along. Fingers crossed eh.?

Quite possibly, but it all depends on the systems that both managers are implementing. NB's system has a lot more fluidity rather than players restricted to 'zones'.

I'm not saying NB is wrong for playing the system he is playing - in fact I think in time it will be very successful. The only problem we may have is that we dont have Nick's players to play his system yet. I dont think Fryatt is the type of striker to be up there on his own as he doesn't have the stature or touch good enough to hold the ball up to bring the wingers in to play

Beckham has decided to stay with LA Galaxy.
We'll have to look elsewhere for squad depth. <laugh>

Agreed, we're all acutely aware that we need a forward with a more proficient strike rate but then who doesn't? Perhaps premiertiger can enlighten us on whether or not we'll still pursue another striker in this window or stick with what we've got and hope for the best and then recruit in the summer?

There is someone on the HDM site today saying the Allams should push the boat out and pay 6 million for Hooper at Celtic. I really do wonder about the sanity of some of these people, football in this country is getting more and more like some kind soap opera with some fans not realising that players are not signed or paid with monopoly money. A signing like Hooper would with a signing on fee , three or four year contract on more money than he is on at the moment, bonuses and agents fees be a commitment of maybe 10 million pounds plus.

The January transfer window is in my opinion a joke , clubs sign players just for the sake of it with deals done with just minutes to spare, its just an excuse for agents to line their pockets and for clubs to inflate the value of players that they want rid of.

The loan window for F L clubs opens about ten days after the January window closes so players can still be brought in as cover for injuries/suspensions if needed.
Sorry if i have gone on a bit but this transfer window really gets on my tits and I would scrap it now if it was up to me.

Great post and many on here share your views. For 6 million City could have both Sharp and Maynard with money to spare. As for the last 2 lines of your post i could not agree more. But i would make the summer window a longer one and close it at the end of October. Then you go with what you have got. END OF.

I can imagine the reaction from agents, they would end up taking the FL to court claiming that not allowing their clients to move clubs as being a breach of their human rights .

nothing wrong with the January transfer window in my opinion. if clubs want to buy players for inflated prices thats up to them.

for us on the other hand, its Barmbys first transfer window as a manager and if we want to keep in the top 6 we need to spend a few million and bring in a player or 2.

we arnt really winning games well are we, most teams in the top 6 have scored more goals than us and score 2, 3 or 4 goals every game... we dont have that kinda strike force which is why i think we should splash out in this window.

We've made an effort for the goalscorer with King coming in. Whether it proves to be the right player remains to be seen, but I'm quite confident having seen him play that he can be a good player for us.

Defence on sheer numbers we're thin. We had it at the end of the emergency loan window where I was saying the squad was lacking depth and people were dismissing it because 6 players could play in 3 positions each so each one was well covered. We got to late December and the same people were complaining the team looked dead on it's feet, and the bench was offering nothing for Barmby to bring in because we had a paperthin squad that meant the team picked itself. We've had a load of midfielders come back into the fold, Brady extending, etc, but now we're saying an even thinner defence is deep enough?

Take Hobbs out and Chester is the tallest player in the back 4 - we'll be vulnerable to crosses and long balls from almost any opponent with no chance of solving it.
Take Rosenior out and we've no experianced cover for right back.

Lets not start unsettling the midfield by shifting Evans (not exactly the tallest himself) into defence, he's first choice in midfield for a reason. Olofinjana is the attacking midfielder who scored 14 goals for Wolves in this division, he's never shown anything approaching a decent level of ability to play DM for us so he's not a suitable replacement. And Cairney bottles too many challenges to be thrown in there for physical games.

Oh, and the players we have out on one month loans aren't cover. They're emergency loans, we can't recall them until after 28 days. If they come back to us at the end of their first loan and then rejoin the clubs to try to get to the end of the season it's another 28 days before they can be recalled.

Cooper is a pretty big lad, I'm fairly sure he is taller than Chester. We have cover in Garcia and Olofinjana and to a lesser extent Kilbane and Atkinson. Defence wise we have Bradley out on loan who will be back at the end of the month - he is a big unit. Shame he will miss the game against Crawley, would have been an ideal game for him. I expect to see East in the cup, if he is to provide cover then he will need some game time. I think loan deals are being lined up for Emerton and Cullen (From the stats both Emerton and Bradley did ok at IK Frej last year - anybody know why they went there? Do we have a link to them?)

Cooper is still only 5'11", and last we saw of him he was much slighter than Chester. He's not the type of defender that worries big target men is he.

Who cares about agents.? FIFA should ban them full stop. As for a breach of human rights ? they would be laughed out of court with such an action. Rules are rules. Agents are a cancer the sport needs to rid itself of. imo.

Nah. NOT YET. Let him sweat for now and lets see what happens. Would be better in the summer when we do our PL recruitement If his wage demands are realistic enough ? How much do Spurs want could be the sticking point though. :emoticon-0112-wonde Treat em mean to keep em Kean ? <ok>
