Rose Tinted Glasses??? "At the back" Too much panic at times and too many errors to be "AWESOME" .Midfield ...... still work in Progress, lots of chopping and changing this season but progressing better now under NB.Up front "not too bad" ......hardly ,the ratio of goals to attempts wouldn't read well nor does the goal tally of any of our strikers. "One good'un".......... makes you too vulnerable.Opposition team tactics ,injuries, suspensions etc can negate a sole threat. We need a "Fruitful" strike partnership e.g. "Waggy & Chilo" then I'd be hopeful of another crack at the premier league, assuming we can make loan signings permanent.Lose the loanees and like last season when we lost Ayala and Gerrard you have to start rebuilding and it is a slow process to find a successful blend. Make the play offs this year and who knows what might happen ,fingers crossed.
Isn't Maynard still available. The trouble/problem is the strikers we need/want/would like - will the selling team want to sell one of their best assets. Anyone know which strikers we are actually considering purchasing - not unfounded rumours
If you want to talk about unknown quantities then how about these? Fraizer Campbell? James Chester? Cameron Stewart? Corry Evans? Joe Dudgeon? Robbie Brady? Vito Mannone? They didn't turn out bad did they? Lets give the kid a chance first, yeah?
There is no such player around who can quarantee goals. Just look at the likes of Torres and Carroll who cost 86m quid between them and they cannot hit a barn door with a shovel at the moment. Its an issue many clubs are having. I would still make a move for Matt Tubbs and he is well within Hull Citys means. Maybe Nick will do a deal after next week. But the well is dry at the moment overall and there does not appear to be any rain due anytime soon.
Completely agree with this. We have a great side that is being dragged down by a general lack of ability in front of goal. We can sign however many midfielders we want but I don't see how we could create much more than we are doing now. What we need is for someone to put the chuffing thing away. It's mainly the strikers' responsibility of course but everyone else seems to miss when they get the chances too (Hobbs and Chester at Burnley). I don't agree either that every team needs 3 or 4 good strikers. I'd say you need a partnership that 'clicks' or even just a lone striker that clicks with the rest of the team. Fryatt isn't that man. McLean looks better up front to me but has his weaknesses too and Simpson doesn't seem to be rated as much as the other two. I really hope King is going to be the man for us. If he can finish an easy chance regularly he can give us the final ingredient needed for promotion.
Saints are starting to wobble now. Boro have signed that lump from Coventry who is no better than what we have already. West Ham just flatter to deceive. imo.
I was meaning that the so called goal scorers have dried up so i dont see Nick wasting cash as things stand. Lets see what happen over the next month. There is is still the emergency transfer window which opens on the 8th feb.
true. but imo, the media is linking Adkins to Hooper to fill in column inches due to a lack of information. lets face it the window is open but there is not much happening at all.....YET. time will tell.
McLean - 431 Apps/139goals Fryatt - 327 Apps/110goals Simpson - 144 Apps/31goals King - 13Apps/ 1goal Garcia -258Apps/ 31goals/ 27assists By looking at that, we have 2 decent goalscorers, Fryatt and McLean both scored more than 100 goals, and both no where near ending there career. They have what it takes to fire us up the league, without a doubt. I am happy with what we have got.
Those stats suggest our current strikers have what it takes, but at what point does repeated failure on the pitch outweigh the stats? Fryatt in particular, can't just go on forever based on reputation.
Fryatt is a funny one and is very much a confidence player. Saturday is the type of game where he could come up trumps 4 us
