Good Morning All, Being a Leeds fan is not easy, suppose its something you're born with. At least nobody can suggest that we are glory hunters. When I started to support Leeds, we had just dropped into the second tier of football (in the early 80's), and although the good times came back in the early 90's, it all seems a long way off at the moment.... What can we do? Apart from protesting outside ER, and boycotting games, there is not much we can do, or is there??? All other news Manchester City youngster Joan Angel Roman is set to go out on loan this month and has offers from four clubs. The 18-year-old joined City from Espanyol in the summer of 2009 but is yet to make an appearance in R Mancini's first team. Leeds, Palace, Pompey and Villareal are all after him.... Robbie Rogers has got his clearance to play, will he go staight into Saturdays team? Leigh Bromby is wanted by Hull. Is he dead wood??? Why hasn't Grayson got rid of AOB, Connelly, Rachubka, Kissa and maybe Lloyd Sam, as we now too many wingers... Song of the day Tubthumping - I get knocked down http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LODkVkpaVQA
Morning elland I'm not sure Bromby has a role to play at this level, and if moving him on means there is more chance of getting someone else in (even from a wage point of view if not transfer funds) then I'd have to say that was the sensible choice. I assume Rogers is a right winger? Even if so I think my pessimism is saying hold onto Sam for the time being just incase we loose Snoddy on the last day of the window and so we would at least have Rogers / Sam as options there, instead of playing Townsend on his weaker side. The more I look at the midfielders, the more I feel it is Nunez who should go out on loan again, or move him on. We seem to be playing 442 an awful lot of the time, and that just isn't the formation for him. He isn't great out wide, and I don't think he is strong enough to play in the middle and hold the ball up. I think he has promise behind the striker in a 4-2-3-1 or similar, but we just aren't lining up like that at the minute. Though losing Howson means we would need someone else to drop into that role.
Morning, The reason we've still got AOB, Connelly, Rachubka, Kissa and the likes is probably no one wants them. What a depressing week for Leeds United.
It is an utterly depressing time. We can only wait and see who comes in on the January transfer window
what's the betting that they now go and get Smith back to 'appease' the fans with the returnign hero spin
Good? No. Morning? No longer. Afternoon all. Not a great time to be a Leeds fan regardless of how close we are to the play offs. Howson wouldn't sign a new contract, according to the website, because he wanted PL footy sooner rather than later. What sort of message does that send out to the rest of the team? No future, or roll up the sleives & show him what he's missing? Of more concern, is will this now start an exodus of star names? I hope not, as much because its taken us a while to build up a side geninely capable of pushing on for at least a play off place. He hasn't gone yet, but I really fear for where the club is going: A. If Howson does leave; & B. If other star names take a leaf out of his book & follow him to clubs in the PL & likely to get there by next season.
If they do that, I'm chucking my season ticket in the bin and boycotting from as soon as he signs. Value for money wouldn't matter to me, I just wouldn't be able to bear that piece of scum strutting around in a white kit milking the applause from the Leeds fans he knowingly betrayed. Anyway, enough of Smith. What the hell is our best team for Ipswich? McCormack Rogers - Snodgrass - Townsend Brown - Clayton White - Lees - O'Dea - Thompson Lonergan Doesn't look brilliant and still lightweight through the spine of the team sadly. But it should surely be able to turn over bloody Ipswich, even if we are protesting, shouldn't it?
Afternoon All I feel ever so dejected at present, and I'm not even Howson's biggest fan. Yet another 'brilliant' transfer period....
I'd love to say we could just end up having a big squad overhaul in summer with all the contracts expiring/money bought in, but under Bates I don't think it's particularly likely! With all the dead wood and Howson gone, with Snoddy/McCormack/Clayton possibly following, we really do need a big squad overhaul in the near future! As soon as we get to around 50 points I'd be tempted to start getting some academy players a chance, just to see what they can do.
If we brought in Kevin Davies & Richard Dunne that would go some way towards appeasing the fans. This isn't a transfer rumour by the way, just my idea of two players who would do wonders for our season. if only the Howson/Gradel/Kasper/Compensation monies were put towards bringing in these type of players instead of the poxy hotel project, we'd be well on our way back to the PL. So frustrating.
we shouldn't be selling anyone who's even close to the first team. Only deadwood should be cut loose. We had enough to do this transfer window with injuries and lack of activity in the summer, now we're selling one of our star players and club captain? Does Ken Bates even try and look at his decisions from someone else's point of view?
Farsley, whats wrong with Filey???Marko, 100% right, we should be concentrating on getting rid of our dead wood
