Evening all, been a while since Ive posted on here. Nice to be back. Just found out about the not606 app too courtesy of big_apple_jack, cheers mush. Will be keeping up to date alot more these days!

Anyway, as the title asks, what did happen to our pitch?? It used to be like a snooker table!!

Only two seasons ago, or three? I cant remember, but we had our pitch voted as the best in the league system!

Since the start of this season though I have noticed the pitch getting worse every time we play on it! I know we have to share it with those egg chasers who chew it up alot, but this never used to be a problem. SO why is pitch looking so divoted, rutted and rough? Have we lost our award winning groundsman? Have we cut back on the electricity powering the hydroponic lighting system that kept the grass growing?
    Whats going on?

Anyone on the board who also writes on here? If so, could this be brought up at the next meeting? It is only making it more difficult for us to play the way we do with a bobbly pitch!

I didnt hear arsenes comments, I can imagine he was moaning though.

Ive just noticed the continuing deterioration of the pitch! Considering what it used to be like!

the pitch was looking a bit thin, like tom butlers hair actually<laugh>
but it still looked flat and smooth to me,and i guess the way we were passing it around meant it was no problem for the players.

I dont think they have been cutting corners on the up keep, maybe too much rain or use perhaps?

Welcome back to the board by the way apetswan :)

The Hairsparys played on it Friday night that's why it was as bare as Cardiff's trophy cabinet. Thank goodness we weren't playing Saturday. They should not be allowed to play the same weekend as us so that the pitch has a chance to recover. If they are scheduled again to be at home then play somewhere else.

Ospreys played on it last Friday night, 2 days before the Arsenal game. Maybe not enough time to recover?

I've noticed a couple of times this season that the pitch doesn't look as good as it did a few seasons ago. Maybe I just have high standards from being used to such a good pitch and have now started finding minor faults!

Not sure what ground SS99 went to, but it wasn't the Liberty. Nothing wrong with it? <doh>

The state of the pitch is worrying. Having said that, we have had more than our usual share of rain leading up to Sunday, and the rugby on Friday couldn't have helped. If we become a fixture in the Prem then we have to sort out this ground sharing nonsense with the egg chasers. Possibly buy the ground? Been mentioned before, I know.

Really speaking, the Ospreys should adopt some form of ground share with the Scarlets or something. Just seems ridiculous that two rugby clubs that haven't got huge followings, and are literally around the corner from each other, have a stadium each.

The Ospreys always played at the Gnoll before. The easy option is that whenever an Ospreys match clashes with a Swans match, unless it's a 'big' Heineken cup match (against a top team), it should be moved back out to Neath for that weekend. The people of Neath wouldn't mind that I'm sure, and the club that is enjoying more success (Swansea City AFC) gets priority use on the stadium.

However, the pitch looks about right for this time of year. If you go back and look at previous winters at the Liberty on the TV, I'm pretty sure there's always a few browner marks around the pitch. When you see the close-up replay for Danny Graham's goal against Arsenal, the ball rolls beautifully the whole way and allows Danny to make great contact with the ball. I think if the pitch looked bad to the cameras, it played as well as it does in the summer.

It looked particularly bare parallel to the sideline about 5-10 yards in which is where the rugby line-outs take place (I think). First thing I noticed when I got inside the stadium - definately worse than usual.

There was nothing wrong with the pitch it was as flat as anything and perfect for our type of football, the ground staff do an amazing job to get it ready in two days, you will get some wear and tear that is natural but if the staff had a bit longer the brown patches would have been green again.......the only problem was discoloration and not the playing surface......cosmetic...........yet another dig kangaroo <doh> you have a problem son,,,
