We never seem to be able to nail down a new contract before other clubs become alerted and start sniffing around. Gradel was happy at Leeds, we pissed around over a contract and it alerted other clubs, agents get involved whispers start and before you know it the player wants to leave for bigger and better football. I have said it before, it is all about the money it doesn't matter what player you are, there is no such thing as loyalty and I can't say I blame any player. Howson should have been offered a decent contract in month one, instead it drags on, clubs become alerted to the 'situation' and before you know it they are asking to leave. Bates was NEVER going to offer Howson a deserving contract, he will spew his usual vile garbage soon telling us how the club captain is a greedy so and so and we had no alternative, sad days at the moment with Bates in charge.
When will youget it into your heads Lorimer is Bates;s mouthpiecehe says what he has been told to say by his employer for that he gets well rewarde so if Lorimer says something BATES has told him to say it in this case to sell more season tickets
I know there's no loyalty in football, I was just being smart. I blame Bates for this shambles. The thing is we don't know what the players are asking for. Maybe the club should be more honest about what was asked for or what was offered. Then at least us ordinary supporters could give an honest opinion, instead of listening to hear say. I've no problem with players wanting to play at a higher level or earning more money, but at least see the full season out and see where the club finishes.
Totally sick at this. Haven't felt so bad since '75 - if we can't keep a player who's Leeds, then who can we keep? Lack of ambition is probably the answer - if the players don't think we're headed anywhere, then I can see a steady trail out the door. Shouldn't worry , though, I'm sure there'll be a loanee/has-been/long-term injured superstar along soon to get us all excited...
I haven't been Howsons biggest fan if I am honest this year but he is still a decent player, one who we can't offer a contract to. He is also the club captain, I have to question how long has the writing been on the cards and Graysons decision to make him captain in the first place. Laughing stock is springing to mind....
I have to admit, that looking at your club from the outside, it is very hard to see what, if anything, Bates has brought to the table. No doubt some of you, more in the know, will tell me, but it does seem that any one step forward is immediately hampered by at least two back. Must be frustrating both for you supporters, but not least for Grayson, who seems to have almost impossible conditions to work under.
It's so frustrating. He's brought nothing whatsoever - whoop he did a dirty trick and took us into admin and ****ed our creditors, great. But he's taken us nowhere in seven years... except down into the third division and back again. We need a Bob Dylan-esque protest song writing... if only not606 had a talented poet at its disposal.
I wonder if Howson will even have the privilege of having the executive box named after him that this transfer will blatantly pay for?
Interesting poll on the YEP web site regarding Howson, quite surprised by the number of yes's who agree with accepting the offer. Just in case you can't access 37% yes 63% No. http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/latest-whites-news/web_poll_are_leeds_united_right_to_accept_a_bid_for_howson_1_4152739
I'd hazard a guess that quite a few 'yes' answers are because it doesn't look like he would be resigning anyway, so we may as well get a fee for him rather than allow him to leave in summer?
We shall take Snodgrass and Clayton off your hands then. On the good side you wont have far to travel to watch them play ? Good Luck. With Bates in charge your gonna need it.
wouldn't go that far but they would make good squad players for us indeed. Snodgrass is good off the bench.
Make a decent enough offer so Bates can retire & you can have them. There going to go anyway and we are going to have to rebuild just like after the risdale era so why not. <defeatistsmiley>
Saints fan in peace I am shocked to see what Bates is doing. Not a good time to sell your best players. I don't know the details of whats going on at Leeds but if you had a good chairman you probably would be in the PL by now. I'm not trying to gloat here but look at Saints. Cortese nailed down our entire first team on long term contracts (our best player Lallana signed a 4.5 yr deal when we were still in league 1!) and even signed Hooiveld outside the transfer window before other clubs could sniff around. I really hope Bates f**ks off out of such a great club and lets someone who knows what they are doing take over. Anyway good luck for the rest of the season - I hope you get into the play offs and win them (unless Saints drop into the play offs!)
