It's in Britain. Of course the issue is with the British army. It's not as if the Norwegian air force is going to be paraded around Ibrox or any other British stadium as the same time Celtic fans are there is it?

And now you're labelling all those Celtic fans as ned bastards from a scheme. Not only is it narrow minded stereotyping but it also suggests that anyone who lives in a council scheme is too stupid to understand war or politics.

You're not having a good day Medro old bean.

Just watched that clip and cant find words to express my disgust at this sort of behaviour! Is this really acceptable behaviour north of the border?? Pathetic disrespectful and surely illegal each and every one of these mindless idiots should be sent to the hospital in brum and be made to justify their comments to the lads who have survived. Put them in a room play the video then lock the door. Even with their horiffic injuries i have no doubt justice would be adminstered and these low lifes educated!

    Away to **** you tit.

ps Should the British soldiers be forced to go to the hospitals to see all the people they maimed or to the cemetaries to see all the people they killed?

Who's shouting ? Are you shouting because you've used capital letters?

Why don't you tell us what point you are trying to make or is there none as usual?

Just the level of intellegent response i have come to expect. As for seeing the cemetries dont forget the bristish army regularly adminster life saving first aid in the battle field to both sides. They try to save the life even if it is from the enemy.

Wow, they must've failed pretty dramatically with Baha Moussa and in the case of 114,469 other civilians.

I know this will come as a shock to some but soldiers do actually get trained to kill people <ok>

thephatone, just out of interest, do you think that the forces deserve unreserved praise?

What would you think of someone from another country, say North Korea or Israel who took that stance?

I think the deification of the armed forces is deeply worrying and would imply either brainwashing or a dangerous expression of nationalism.

Edit - Dev, I was going to describe the Army as "state-trained killers" but I thought it was too rhetorical and dramatic - I'm glad an ex-squaddie beat me to it <ok>

The soldiers dont choose where their government send them, they are there to do a job they are highly trained to do. Have you ever seen the clips on the news when old soldiers meet german or jap fighters from previous wars, even an ex sas soldier who flew to argentina to speak to those he fought against. There is no hatred just respect. Brain washed or highly trained? And at the end of the day if a gun is aimed at you the best defence is to shoot that gunner first! As for un reserved praise they do one hell of a job in extreme conditions for not a massive pay. Yes they choose that career they know the risks but personally having served alongside some very brave men yes they deserve the praise they deserve the respect they sure as hell dont deserve abuse from a group of ******ed celtic fans!

Shock horror. A thread about servicemen in Afgahnistan comes back to taig issues.

If it wasn't for Britain the Irish would be a 3rd world country still obsessed by their lack of snakes, the little people and fighting with each other.

My point, for what, the forth time ..is this behaviour rife?

Other posters have grasped this and given opinions on it....your greatest input being "you don't know what a regiment is"

Can you imagine that ALLEGED behaviour on laptops in your office?

If so wouldn't you expect criticism such as "rife"?

    You didn't answer the question.

What do you think of people in other countries who blindly worship armed forces - the tools of despots the world over and throughout history?

10 years ago didn't you see military fly-pasts at baseball games and cringe?

I personally remember Tommy Boyd on Channel 5 baseball saying that the extolling of American Nationalism at sporting events through the armed forces was deeply worrying to any Non-American - the American guy on the panel was forced to agree with him.

Fast forward to now and we parade the same army that's under VERY severe allegations (and, undoubtedly will face them for years to come) from their behaviour in Afghanistan and Iraq before football games and even a corporate advert tying in the English National Football team used the armed forces as an embodiement of national pride.

It's not ****ing healthy - I have friends and relatives in the army - this isn't an excuse for suggesting that everyone who volunteers to fight anyone (as you said yourself, they don't choose where they fight - therefore, by joining, they are offering to fight and kill ANYONE the state tells them to) on the say-so of the state is in any way deserving of adulation by default.

No it's not "rife" as this example shows.

You are making your own quotes up by adding words like "regiment" and "laptops" (plural), so I suspect your own jealousy/hatred/bias is clouding your judgement, why don't you mention me peeling spuds again, that's always good for a laugh and is a perfect display of your ignorance of the military and how it operates, much like this thread.
