So Paolo Di Canio's latest addition to his revolution is Luke Rooney who today Joined from Gillingham.

It seems as though Rooney fell out with the management at Gillingham as he wants to play at a higher level, which is something Gillingham are unlikely to be able to offer.

Have just seen Luke's first interview with STFC World and I'm pleased he's made the right decision in joining Swindon. Will be interesting to see how Luke copes with the big step up to Swindon Town.

Gillingham fans appear to be devistated with this departure, however they have recieved a fee of around £200k which may appear cheap for a player of this quality but the better players have to move on to bigger and better things.

Looking forward to seeing where Di Canio fits Luke into the team. It is clear we have a squad brimming with quality and Luke will provide us with another option. But the thought of Ritchie, Benson, Connell and now Rooney starting for Town would terrorise any team in League 2.

Jeremy Wray also hasn't ruled out another bid for Oxford Striker James Constable, good player, not sure we need yet another striker. Cody McDonald on the other hand . . .

Well Luke welcome to Swindon Town and enjoy the ride!!!

WOW! There was me thinking that Spurs fans were dillusional!

Not one thread on Rooney has suggested that any Gills fan is 'devastated' by Luke's departure, most wanted him gone after he rejected a new deal, for the second time of asking.

Also we are in the play-offs of League 2, as are you, so how are you a much bigger club and indeed how do you have much more of a chance of playing a higher level?! If the fee is 200k, then I would be over the moon, as would every other Gills fan, 200k for an average player with clear mentality issues is a blind robbery in my opinion and it suits us down to a tee.

This isn't sour grapes due to the Swindon and Gills rivalry, i've never really cared about that, and incidentally i do think you will go up automatically, however the above comments have rialed me a bit, hope these aren't the pitty views of all Swindon fans.

Good luck for the season, and good luck with Luke, I actually do hope he gets his head right and becomes a consistently good player for you.

Haha if I'm honest with you Gills fan, I may have created this post to wind a few of you Gills up :) This was the sort of reaction I was after but I've had my fun now :)

To be honest Gillingham are one of the better teams I've seen down the County Ground this year and felt you boys were a bit unlucky not to come away with anything. You lot will be in the plat-offs come Mat, I'm sure of it and more than capable of going up.

If anything there are a few concerns over the Rooney signing.

    Good Luck :)

Good raw talent but would not have made the difference to us going up on not, blows hot and cold and get a little hot headed. But like most Gills fans not that bothered he has gone and wish him good luck.

rooney was piss poor when he came off the bench at the shrews. i suspect he will be the same on 21.2.12 when the shrews piss all over you. gills couldn't wait to get rid, and if you have spent 200k on a lemon, more fool swindon
