Winning ugly is something we've not been capable of. Obviously it's a League One side but it's a start and it certainly beats losing games we deserve something from. I thought Bothroyd played well but it's barely legal as a QPR fan to praise him. Buzsaky too. It's nice to have a player capable of taking a set piece.
Very important win, pretty dire game but the important thing is we no longer have that terrible FA cup record winless run, and even more important: we won at home against more than 9 men!!!
Has anyone else noticed that if you take the words BOTHROYD and JAY, add a few, take some away and juggle them around a bit, it spells MARC NYGAARD?
Let it sink in guys. Have a taste of that rare feeling called winning. Wasn't going to be pretty when we finally turned our run around. And to break our FA-Cup hoodoo and keep a clean sheet in the process tastes pretty good to me.
This! But Christ, that was desparate stuff. Haven't seen us play with so little composure, creativity and skill for a couple of years I don't think, but then I did miss the first leg!
Boothroyd did ok as did Buzz. Gabbidon shoved my words down my throat but you could tell the difference betwen wich team played 50 ago, and the 1 ten days ago. Credit to MK Dons, they have got a very good manager in Robinson. Hopefully, this will lift the confidence for Sats game against Wigan, and I reckon a rest for Shaun Derry. I just think that IF we had been lucky enough to get Craig Bellamy at stat of the season, we would be seeing a more fired up Jay Boothroyd Still a win is a win......4th Round FA Cup.......fook me, been a long time since I can say seen Rangers in a 4th round FA Cup tie
Evening all. I've been reading since 606 and thought it was about time I input some of my own views and opinions! Seen as it's my first post I'm going for the positives. A win at home, broke our FA Cup curse, Barton is back for the Wigan game, Hughes gets to have another look at the team and we get to beat Chelsea again... Bring em on! You Rrrr's!
Everyone is going on about the performance being poor but I think you can see they were just tired. 2 games in 3 days isn't easy.
Had to laugh at Clive Tyldesley saying that SWP obviously had Ian Wrights genes...........have a look at Wikipedia Clive cos it aint so.......
Shoot me down lads if you like, but i think we are making bothroyd a bit of a scapegoat. I thought he did ok last night and seemed to pop up on the left right and through the middle. he holds play up well but can sometimes hold it too long. It seemed to me like a lack of options of who to pass to. its sad to say but a neutral would have put us as the league 1 team last night and
Bang, bang! No, seriously, you have to judge Betty primarily on what he's put on the field to do, which is to (a) score goals and (b) create goal-scoring opportunities for others. Little evidence to date that he's excelled at either. Yes, yes, yes, you can also point the finger at others within the team - and you'd be right - but I'll repeat my oft-trotted-out point that the priorities for re-building the team has to be a better forward line and a better creative midfield. All the time that we're losing we're putting disproportionate focus on the failings of the defence, when it's been a combination of the tactics to date and the shortcomings of the upfield players that has been the primary cause. That only Wigan have scored fewer goals to date in the PL is all you need to know. I wouldn't mind shipping 1 or 2 goals per game if we're scoring 3 or 4 at the other end, but we couldn't score with a munter off Jeremy Kyle's show at the moment.
