The club sent an email out yesterday promoting the scheme, with the £10k draw this Saturday. It's meant to benefit the academy, but they seem to be a bit desperate, seeing that they listed the following people as products Solly (1st teamer) Waggy (1st teamer who can't get into team) Green - a guy who left as when he was 16??? Perhaps they'll add Danny Haynes to the list! Indeed this season, with the number of players we've brought in, it's incredibly hard to break into the first team, when you pick up so many free transfers. Ultimately, at our level, isn't the academy about producing players you can sell, on at a profit? For example, the Jenkinson money paid for many of our purchases last summer.
Well, they could have mentioned Jenkinson/Shelvey as recent successes. But that might leave a bad taste with some people so instead they didn't risk it.
