Is it possible that Don Cortese had a word with his close associate Levy and said you don't nwant that little spanish pr**k so buy him, loan him to us and we will buy him in the summer? After all the Don has some very powerful friends, has he not?
Great bit of business Competition for places, look at how Harding, Hammond & Chaplow have all improved following the arrival of Fox & Cork, knowing they had to up there game to stay in the team. You can hardly say our front 5 of Guly, Lallana, Lambert, Connolly & De Ridder have been crap this season, but they have not really had to fight for a starting place. With Falque and Lee they will have players breathing down there necks and that can only improve them. I'm sure a lot of saints fans think Guly needs that kick up the wotsit from time to time. Really excited about this signing as it sounds like he will fit perfectly into our style and could swap flanks with Lallana if necessary like Puncheon & Chamberlain used to do. Another option and we're not paying over the odds
A very good deal for us - options down the right where we don't really have alot of depth. De Ridder isn't the best crosser of the ball and has a tendancy to be selfish. As stated above by otehrs; we have the equivalent now of a Lallana on the right wing. Whats more, we have kept our cash for the season-end and if we are in the Premiership next season, we have the funds to get the right players when there are more around to choose form. Very good business by NC!
I van imagine he will be incredible for us and get us promoted single handedly and then it sinks in he has to go back to spurs and I'll be gutted as I've been eyeing a new saints shirt with his name on the back!! Coyr
I wonder whether NA has in mind that this guy can play as a number 10. We know teams are starting to work us out, and we have experimented with a 'diamond' shape to try and do something new - this guy will give us that option as well as cover out wide for our usual formation.
The purchase of Falke and his loan to us has been so rapid there must have been a lot of preplanning going on. Been lined up for some time is my guess.
Fran - someone on here raised this rumour over a week ago; but was ignored because it seemed so improbable - but I agree - there must have been alot of talking behind the scenes with Spurs. NA stated in a recent interview that alot of dealings had taken place before the January transfer window and he also stated that we were looking at loans as well as permanent transfers.
Does anyone know how much he cost Spurs? He is going to give us so many options, our very own little David Silva. I'm pretty sure he came through at Barca with the likes of Tiago and Bojan, not bad company.
Bet Spurs paid a fair amount because they are a PL club. If he turned out to be great for us, there would be no chance of us getting him because they probably paid a lot and there will be a sell-on clause. So, let's hope he's great for us and helps us get promoted before he returns to Spurs. We need depth as we enter the phase when players start getting injured and tired.
I jolly well hope not. He is our highest scoring player for goals scored in play. His assists are an asset and the man is a little dynamo. Nigel loves him.
They were originally told he'd cost £8m but got the price reduced somewhat. (according to a spurs fan)
