Hmmm, I agree with what you're saying, but at the end of the day EVERY team has off days, its what you come away from those bad days with which is what dertermines the difference between mid-table and pushing for europe IMO.

Also - I don't know where the BBC get their possession stats from? Sky had it at 60/40 Newcastle on the 80 minute mark!

ffs man i hate it when people have to be ****ing difficult.

We played ****, but still won, we've done that a few times this season, which shows that we are a good side. It was not just a one off or fortune or anything like that.

Our superior quality won us a **** game. Simple as. They had more possession that us, but we did more with our possession, they did **** all really with there's/

For christ sake stop being so ****ing negative man.

Just because we played **** today, doesn't mean we will continue to be **** or play like we did today.

    From Sky Website:

    63.7 1st Half Poss. 36.3
    59.3 2nd Half Poss. 40.7

Averages out at 61.5 Newcastle...Far more realistic than the 45% the beeb thought we had!

Tash, how are you supposed to outrun those terrorists who threatened you when you were 12 if "up and hatem" can spot ya at a toon game?

    What would Ethan Hunt do?

Again, maybe it comes across differently live Vs tv, but for me, aside from two 10 minutes spells, QPR never threatened and we played the game out with decent discipline!

He simply disagrees with you, he isn't "being difficult" nor is he "being negative". You miss his entire point with your last sentence too, he isn't saying that we're destined to play poorly because of this performance, he's simply saying that if we put in that sort of performance against a side that isn't as crap as a wounded QPR, we would easily lose.

He said "The bigger picture is that if we continue to play like that, in that style and lacking attacking quality, we will not maintain our 6th/7th position".

Why say that? It was one performance, it should not make anyone worry about the future. His statement implies that because of today, he thinks we could end up playing like that in the future.

His comment is filled unnecessary negativity.

We should have delivered the knock-out blow against QPR late in the first half, I reckon we could have been comfortable. However in the second half we were much more negative, Best should have been alongside Shola not stuck on the left wing were he was ineffectual at best, 4-5-1 against a relegation team seems stupid really. However we defended well enough and probably did enough to scape the win.

Especially considering he was carrying Raylor for 3/4 of the game! Very good performance from Guthrie IMO

The point is I'm saying we shouldn't be satisfied with the performance. Like skalpel says, it's not the sign of us being a good team, just a less-**** team (on the day).

I have every confidence we can continue to compete for 6th/7th, and agree with JWAG when he says it's about how you come away from games like this.

We obviously have differentiating opinions on this so let's leave it there, I'm just trying to clarify what I was saying <ok>.

No it isn't. His comment says "if we continue to play like that..." in order to explain his reasoning behind disagreeing with your statement: "It's a sign of a good team [that we can win when playing ****]".

QPR were terrible today, if we had played a good team we would have had our arses kicked, that is surely undeniable. We're all happy to get the 3 points but our performance today was terrible and we should all praise the Buddha that it wasn't against somebody better. If we'd played poor against a better team and still got the win, then yeah I'd agree with you. But two teams playing totally **** and one of them scraping a win does not necessarily herald the sign of the winners being a good team.

Yes, he did say "if" I know man!, but It's also like after a good performance saying "If we keep on playing like that, we can go on to win the title". It's a pointless statement.

We will have our bad days like today, and we may have more to come towards the end of the season, but we could also have a lot of good days and end up finishing in the top 6. You never know.

No single performance should get people saying things like that.

We've played **** a few times this season and got results, which shows that today wasn't just a one off and we only won because QPR were ****.

It's like the people who say "the only reason we won today was because the other team missed their chances".

    Pointless, stupid statement.

I think Fulham away is the right sort of game for us to be going to next. We always switch off in the cup - it's my second biggest problem with Pardew after his subs - and after a dodgy start we knuckled down today. What we need next week is 90 minutes of the same sort of knuckling down, and playing away gives us the option to be a little defensive and play a 4-2-3-1 again.
