That is true my hero Baxterlike Zidane could work in a different time zone MR but I think there are Wallcot or Lennon times when youve got to be able to say can we use half of Richardson on them....but hey....as I said I havent seen him today...just heard bits... You think Richardson was one of the "couple of places"(MONs words) that let us down then?
Definitely mate. I honestly think when he plays he detracts from the team. Even on the odd occasion he does something right, his overall play and actual contribution is negligible. When he has been subbed or missing the team looks much more balanced. Also when he is missing from midfield Cattermole doesn't need to dash from one side of the pitch to the other to cover for him, then give silly free kicks. Watching Eagles against ManU, same type of player as Ricco a ManU reject and has the same problems, flash in the pan but overall play is ****. Rio Coker is trying to get him to push on but he just doesn't look interested. Thats why they were released.
Are you for ****ing real or what, you heard, you ****ing heard, I take it from that you were not at the game or didn't watch it on a dodgy feed. Richardson was like the rest of the players today, brilliant, 100% ball breaking give everything for the team, manager and fans. Instead of picking faults with a lad giving 100% for Sunderland why don't you give 100% youself and back the lads on the pitch. We were brilliant today, if you want to have a go at anybody Bardo is by far the most limited footballer in our our team, he can't polish (the out of position) Richo's boots. Sorry for the rant as I am mortal and just back in but ****ing hell, the lads our longests serving player and never hides even when we were ****e, Well played Rico lad and long may you stay at Sunderland
Alright Wease. Pissed up myself. Not going to pick a barney but this Richardson thing is so one way or the other. Can't see anything in the lad myself. Bardo for me can defend and first and foremost thats his job. I know once we get a thing about a player (good or bad) we tend to go a bit mental. I have watched Richardson more closely than any other for the last 5/6 games simply because I don't rate him at all. He's a poor defender, a poor midfielder, poor in the hole, can't tackle, has poor vision, passing is rubbish, lazy, shooting is crap, positioning is poor. I just don't get it with the lad..
Alrright Moorsley, sorry mate can't agree. He kept WBA up sindlehandly, three managers have played him almost every game he has been available, say what you like but Keane, Bruce and MON know a **** load more about footy than me or you ever will. As long as he is on the pitch in red and white he will have my backing. He is not a natural defender, Bardo is but Bardo is the worst ball watcher to play for us in a long time. The **** Rcho gets is way out of proportion to his actually performances, Wes has cost us far more points this season in comparison. All I am saying is the lad gives 100%, lets back him and stop the whinging.
I know what youre talking about MR...you could say the same thing about Baxter /Zidane etc but neither of them,or Scholes could pretend to hang on the coat tails of Aaron Lennon or young Walcot.....and we play against them occasionally....
Not much risk there then. I've been saying this for 3 seasons now - SELL, GET RID, EMPLOY HIM TO CLEAN BOOTS BUT DON'T EXPECT HIM TO PLAY FOOTBALL.
Thats the whole point! weve had years of high turnover....the world and his wife are saying LOOK AT WHAT MON IS DOING!!!!! He comes in and suddenly players are playing...it sounds as though you want to go back and chop chop chop/change change change.....Putting aside the fact that this lad can play in any part of the field and hes on our goal scoring charts....imagine youre asking MON if he wants him to go...Whats your gut instinct?......Yeah sell him...we`ll be able to get a replacement easily...Pick one of our mid table adversaries...put him in their side....comfortable?
Right I have just watched the Chelsea goal again and there is no way it's Richardsons fault. Cattermole let's Ramerez run past him, Ricco has to come out of position to challenge him or he has loads of time to run at goal or shoot. No one else has tracked Matas run, so when Ramerez passes him the ball all Ricco can do is go from Ramerez to close Mata down, Cattermole is now back to mark Ramerez. Mata crossed the ball and it should get cleared but Bardo gets caught out of position. Someone should have tracked Mata or Catts should have stayed with Ramerez so Ricco could mark Mata. I watched the whole game and I did not notice Richardson give the ball away anymore than anyone else. I am not a fan of him a Lb and think we should sign a Lb and play Richardson in an attacking role. But I also don't think it's fair to criticise a player for something that is not his fault. Again just my opinion your all entitled to your own.
Thought Ricco did ok to be honest. The fact that he's being asked to play leftback, is a valid enough reason to cut the lad some slack IMO.
I dont think Richardson has maximised his talent at Sunderland but i feel it has been just as much the manager's fault as his. He has pulled on a shirt and played almost everywhere on the pitch for us. He never hides and steps up to the plate every time. I feel for the guy he as well and Bendtner seem to be the whipping boys at the moment even when the team has been doing so well.
Sorry guys but if you take away his pace he brIngs nothing to the table, in fact if he didn't score that freekick against mags we wouldn't be having this debate because we would all agree that he is not good enough.
But that, IMO, is answering the wrong question, is he good enough to play LB, probably not. Is he as bad as many think, probably not. Gives his all every game and thats all I ask, should he be selected is a question of the manager who pics him, so, should we have a go at MON, the man who picks him?
WTF? You need to calm down bonny lad! This is a football forum, to voice our opinions on SAFC, just because my opinions don't correspond with yours shouldn't get your knickers in so much of a twist! But when you are having a go at players it's more valid? Calling Bardsley who is quite clearly our best RB LB is ok, does that mean I can hurl abuse at you. as I disagree? In my opinion what I said about Richardson stands, you say he always gives 100% I don't agree. He puts on spurts now and then, the rest of the time he just ambles about looking disinterested. Which means players around him have to work harder, which has been evident when he isn't on the pitch.
Right just watched the Chelsea goal again! Cattermole was watching Merieles and did NOT let Ramires run past him. Ramires was on the edge of our penalty area when Cattermole was out facing up Merieles. IF Merieles had ran past him you may have had a point! The closest person to Ramires throughout was Ricco. When the ball gets to Ramires, Ricco ambles towards him doesn't run! Ramires then rolls the ball past Ricco to Mata. Ricco then jogs straight back to the goal line instead of running diagonally flat out to close down Mata thereby stopping the cross. In no way on this earth could his defending be called closing down! Not the best defending by Bardsley, what I would say is he got pulled out of position by some excellent forward play by Lampard whose movement was excellent, especially when he darted around the back of O'Shea which sucked Bardsley in.
After all this criticism of Richardson all I can say is that Martin O'Neill must be a poor judge of a good footballer because he keeps playing him. In which case I can only assume Mr Short made a bad choice in appointing MON as our manager. I am not for or against Richardson but this constant criticism of him will do nothing to help his confidence assuming he reads it, of course.
Spot on Dorset - the good thing about McClean is that he kept going after missing the chances - kept playing his game and it didn't get to him (like we have seen with other youngsters who miss good chances) - The sad reality on Saturday was theat when Wickham crossed that ball at the end, I was only listening and saying to myself "anyone but Bendtner" I'd rather have had Bendtner passing to Wickham as Wickham looks more assured in front of goal IMO!! We need a striker who can put chances away - we should have had at least a draw at the weekend and ended up with nothing. We all wanted a good performance and any point would be a big gain but we should have got something from that match. Swansea's defence looks very shakey mind and with a bit of luck we can exploit that - they look great on the ball and going forward but at the back they were pretty shakey at the weekend!! EDIT: BTW - up until the links with Arsenal were spouted in the press, I though Ricco had done very very well under O'Neill - he was playing left wing rather than left back and occasionally in that "Second Striker" role - and he was looking a good player - he is a poor left back IMO but when he plays in a settled spot he looks much better
