http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...n-Kilbane-ruled-rest-season-misses-Euros.html I arent sure how to feel about Kilbane. Decent fella but has took a hell of a lot out of our club and given little in return.
Wasn't Killer the only player that actually sacrificed some wages when we were strapped while others just deferred? He always gave 100% and is useful in a number of positions and actually did well when (rarely) called to play at a back. When fit, he isn't going to get in our current squad now though. I really hope his rehab goes well and he can chose to retire or not.
He's a very decent bloke, so I'm sorry to hear that he's going to miss the Euro's. He's out of contract at the end of the season, so we've almost certainly seen the last of him in a City shirt, quite possibly the last of him in any shirt. Though I if I'm honest with myself, I am a bit relieved that he's not available to play. Anyway, get well soon Killer and good luck.
Think that whatever the outcome we will see Kilbane in some form of coaching capacity in the game. Comes across as a decent chap and certainly seems to have a head on his shoulders
Shame he will miss the Euros probably, maybe they should offer to pay up his contract if there is only five months left
I think pretty much all of our players deferred their wages in the end, but Killer was the only who actually changed his terms and took his wages over two years instead of one.
I don't think we saw the best of him but, as many have said, a thoroughly decent professional who always gives a hundred percent and obviously loves playing the game. I hope he makes a full recovery and I'm sure he's the sort of bloke who'll continue to be involved in football at some level. Incidentally, it mentions that the injury arose in an international training session so does this raise the possibility of some compensation for City?
As it was on international duty, the Irish FA should be paying his wages, though I think there's a limit on what they can be held liable for.
NB said in his post match interview that Kilbane has had back surgery, but will be recovered in time for the Euros.
