For years, North East clubs have eaten the crumbs from the Man U table , signing has-beens like Smith, Butt , Brown and O'Shea . We've been seen as last chance pay days ( especially Newcastle signings who should never have graced SJP) for second string players.

So , tell me why they're refusing to sell us Morrison. He's trouble, gifted and not happy. He's out of contract in the summer when he can vanish for NOTHING. £1m clearly isn't enough to entice the Grump SAF , so I'm thinking this.

He's bloody good footballer. AP thinks he can handle trouble ( HBA has history and Ranger got peddled) and can see the upside. Even watching some of his video clips, he's fast, good passer and has good vision.

We should up our bid to just to annoy the f**k out of SAF. They're trying like mad to get him to sign a cheap contract and this will be much harder after all this interest by Newcastle.

Pique, Forlan, Rossi. Flopped at Man U, hugely successful afterwards. I know it's a slightly different case, but time will tell.

Butt was a very good player for us from 06/07 onwards. Simpson has been decent. Smith was good in 09/10 as has been mentioned.

Yes, and he performed well. But he was also one of the players that underperformed when we were in the Premier League, leading to our relegation.

Also, it seems a lot of people have missed the point of the article, which is Morrison.

What he said. Also it's actually worthy noting the fact that Morrison wouldn't be classed as a 'reject'. Man United want to keep him and are offering a new contract, he's the one holding the cards because he goes for free at the end of the season. They won't be devastated to lose him purely because of his off-the-field antics but they're certainly not desperate to get rid of him.

Morrison is a youngster, not in the same vein as Brown, Smith et al.

<doh> when was the last time someone benefited from a Newcastle reject? (notice the term reject, not anyone who's left)

In my honest opinion there is absolutly nothing special about Sir (don't agree with any sportsman being given that title) Alex Fergusons managment of a team. His only strength ishe can get theteam he has to play amazingly well. He makes mistakes as do all managers

Gillespie, Simpson have done a decent job for us. Wasn't Peter Beardsley rejected by Man Utd as a teenager?

all a good time ago. Obviously there will be some, like i said, all managers make mistakes but the point was there are only as many as there are from Man U. Also i admit I've probably a bit to far on my slating of AF but my hatred for him took over

Don't understand how anybody can say Smith played well in the Championship. The guy was ****ing ****e. It was only when we finally ****ed him off, signed Routledge and put Guthrie in the middle that we actually started dominating that division.

The first half of the season we were turgid but effective.

He's starting to get on a bit... but for 5 years Phil Neville has been Everton's most consistent and influential player.

Obviously Pique has become one of the top 3 centre backs in the world after he left. I have a feeling htat after his injury, Rossi will have a big 2012 as well. He looked sooo good before that injury!

Sorry but you are wrong .. He played well in the CCC season, we were pretty dominant all season, more so in the latter parts (if anything) of it due to the increase in confidence
