At this point, I'd be surprised if we made a significant signing. As long as Zamora and Johnson don't leave, I don't see any big holes in the club. The right-back situation has stabilized in that Kelly's playing pretty well. Left back has been a problem, but Riise seems to be playing better and Briggs is a very capable backup. Our offense is starting to jel nicely ... we've got about six strikers now: Sa, BZ, AJ and Dempsey, Dembele and Ruiz can all play the position in a pinch. We've got very good players in reserve, like: Hughes, Briggs, Baird, Gecov, Frei and Kasami.

To me, January signings are all about NEED, and I don't see any big holes in the starting 11, or elsewhere for that matter. Let's not rock the boat ... stand pat until summer and then go for some younger talent.

basically,i go along with what you are saying.
But, you probably guessed as to
what I will say,and it is take 2mil for AJ, he is not featuring in the first team squad,
and save the 800,000 or so he gets in wages.
No matter how many fans want or wish him to stay,he will walk in the summer,
and what will we get zilch.
No the 2 3mil in the coffers will add to any summer signings.

I think Jol is willing to take the financial hit in order to have him in the squad until the end of the season. Not that I agree with it but that seems to be what he wants.

I'm with Val, get shot of AJ to Blackburn, get that Lopez bloke in on loan and see where we are in May.

I presume the AJ deal to Blackburn will depend on wether or not we get this Lopez guy in. Or any other striker for that matter.

Or, whether we buy another striker may depend on whether we offload AJ (to Blackburn or elsewhere). It might be about freeing up money from the wage bill before committing to another player. If AJ goes, I wouldn't be surprised to see a bid for one of the UK based non-Premier league strikers we are constantly linked with (Maynard, Stokes, the feller from Fleetwood, etc)

Just seen that Catania have apparently rejected our latest bid for Lopez, saying that they aren't willing to let him go on loan. It's looking like it's a permanent transfer or nothing for him. I think I would lean towards leaving this one, if that's the case. Not that I've ever seen him play...

    Quite agree Captain.
Could be to much of a risk signing Lopez at this stage.
Any one of your above three might be worth a shout.
If Aj should go add a couple and go for the Huddersfield lad.

Sell AJ and get a younger player in. £3m will get us someone decent with prospects. AJ, with no disrespect on his efforts, will either play magnificently if he plays or sit out the rest of his contract trying not to pick up any injury to jeopardise any transfer in the summer.

Yes! I forgot all about Jordan Rhodes - possibly the most promising of the lot. I don't think Huddersfield are going to let him go this window, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to get him. Good shout, Valjing.

Problem is DR that only Zamora, Sa and Johnson are the out and out strikers from that list, none of which have been firing on all cylinders this season. Sa and Johnson are fine as back ups but we need a goalscorer to either join Bobby up top or challenge his place in the team.

Agree with Valjing. Jol is definitely playing a closed hand, although we are now strongly linked with Sordell of Watford (ironically we let him go as a youngster) -

    http://http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/transfer-rumours/1460/06/fulham-emerge-favourites-complete-sordell-signing?

I'd like us to keep Bobby (at least till the summer) and get in 2 young players (like Sordell and Rhodes) now - rather than 'untried' foreign imports.

Whatever, Jol is certainly brewing up something.

    Agree ^^

Either keep AJ, or use his fee/wage saving to get Rhodes. Lopez needs to be try before you buy.

According to SSN Trotta will be playing his last game for Wycombe this weekend. I thought it was extended until the end of the season? Anyway if he is back that's another striking option.

Saw in todays gossip columns,we are favorites to sign Marvin Sordell of Watford.
This one does not interest me unless he could be avail;able for 1mil or less.
Jorden Rhodes still tops my list 3/4 mil puurfec
