Im old school and the RA aint there no more.Pity because the occupation hasnt finished.Oh well I suppose theyll have to kill somebody to bloody organise themselves.Seladaigh Abu!
The Geneva convention was negotiated after the most horrendous war in history, after every single side in that war had previously far exceeded it's new post-war moral absolutism. But to meet your point, the general resistance in occupied France did not wear uniforms or openly carry weapons.
Read my last post I was using it as a point to prove the amount of hypocritical bull**** that goes on in some of these threads. I think the Taliban/IRA/French resistance should be allowed to fight in civilian clothing. But I also think that they should take responsibility for many of the civilian casualties incurred. Fight dirty if you want but expect your opponent to be just as ruthless back.
depends IMO. truth is in this country we tend to only hear one side of the argument, all are wrong except us Truth be known a lot of what we see today was sown decades ago and the ones often being pointed as wrong are not always so take for example the Iranian 32 year old nuclear scientist killed in his car by a guy on a motorbike who rode by and placed a bomb on the car This is not the first scientist involved in the nuclear field that has been killed in this manner in Iran, both times believed to be Israeli/american now imagine Iran attacks Israel, how much you ant to bet the Iranians will be the bad guys?
how do we know that it isnt the 'opponent being ruthless'? In this case the ruthless opponent being the taliban/IRA/French resistance
If you were asking for my own point of view, I think those who choose to fight should be obliged to only fight others who wish to fight with them. If these others are hiding among civilians then there are obviously enough civilians who support these others to hide them - at which point you need either genocide or a political negotiation. Nazi Germany preferred genoicide and not so perversely enough it seems evident the IRA required political negotiation - I think it's become fairly clear that the Taleban are hiding behind a genuine population of supporters so there is only one way out of that situation which doesn't defile the Geneva convention.
only differences being that the Jews were not at war with germany but hitler attacked them anyway and the taliban never attacked or in any way declared war on the US or UK. In fact the talibans support from the locals come from the occupation of afghanistan much like the IRA support from the Irish The taliban were all for political negotiation re OBL and handing him to the UN. this was not acceptable for the yanks
