Billy Sharp won't get you the goals without service the same as Beckford hasn't. That was his problem at the blades.
Is this not a bit of Deja Vu? You guys really know how to set yourself up, you done exactly the same thing with Maynard, as far as playing on Saturday is concerned i think this will quash that idea http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/13012012/58/championship-team-news-sharp-set-play.html This is the same Leicester Mercury that said Maynard would be signing by the weekend http://www.thisisleicestershire.co....lion-striker/story-13200926-detail/story.html Dont believe anything until hes in a Leicester shirt! Oh and the IPhone 4s is a terrible phone, does nothing that my 3GS does not do except use a application called SIRI (or something) that does not actually work properly. Galaxy S2 all the way, and wait till the Iphone 5 comes out, that will be a special phone.
Very jealous over Cotterill, one hell of a player on his day, i dont see why we didnt try and re-sign him.
By all accounts we're already further with Sharp than we ever got with Maynard. Mr Bristol, even you must admit that you'd be better off if Maynard had come to us for the ridiculous money we offered. I personally am glad we didn't, for the money we offered for Maynard, we could have Beckford, Sharp and still have £2m left over!
Spike: Let 'em spunk their cash on a misdiagnosed problem if they want to. They have enough of it - after all the Malaysians were brought in by mandaric were'nt they - no problems there then!
So who's responsible for Beckford spurning sitter after sitter? Who's responsible for Beckford's laziness? There's no misdiagnosis - we're too light up front.
I would say it was all to do with a player who probably thinks he's better than he is - and who cares (from his point of view) anyway - he'll get paid whether he does the business or not. If you believe the guff coming from the fans the club can afford it. Possibly sees himself as a premiership striker but might forget he still has to put a shift in. That's often the problem with so called marquee signings from a higher league. Talent is rarely the problem, desire and work ethic often is. A good manager gets the most from his players regardless and the buck stops there. If it isn't that, then it might be because he's had the bright lights of the prem and all of a sudden he ain't as good as he thought he was so has a confidence crisis. Fans berating him will compound the issue and maybe he'll never be the same player again. who knows? He was always one for me that could finish but had a **** first touch and was never premiership class because of this. Needed it put on a plate for him. In this league with the right attitude, system and the right man--management he'll score his goals. He's done it before so it isn't about ability per se. I guess he sees his current situation as a step backwards and doesn't know how to bounce back. Dropping out of the big league to a parochial club is the first setback of his carreer. Even before Everton he as at L**ds who, though I hate to admit still offer an international platform owing to their historic achievements - He's got a big club mentality, simple as that. Whether he gets over it depends on his personality and how he's managed at the end of the day. He's a club asset with a track record at this level and it is up to N.P. to get the best from him. It's that simple. I'd expect him to be shipped out on loan somewhere and they will get the benefit of his ability with you lot ultimately paying for it. That's what happened under Pearson with an underconfident Jay Simpson at Hull. His record between us and the loan move is respectable enough though for a forward who likes to drop deep. You won't be light up-front when Waghorn is back either. Not dissimilar to Nugent but from what I've read he's (Nugent) another who thinks he's better than he is too. He does at least put a shift in though. Too much ego is a reasonably talented footballers biggest achilles heel. Get the club mentality right and it will come together. Under those circumstances average ability will do a good job in this league. Going around like Johnny bigbollox won't get you anywhere, Management, Fans, players and owner(s) included.
We all know Beckford's got the talent, and I tend to agree with your comments regarding his attitude. I believe Nigel will get the best out of him eventually, as long as Beckford is willing, but this may take time. Sharp is needed if we are serious about getting promoting this season.
You need a miracle to get promoted this season, not just a striker. 1 player isn't going to turn it, you have to create a culture at the club. 4 months won't do it. Playoffs yes, but you have to be both talented and consistent. Consistency means familiarity and confidence. Something you can't just buy in the January window.
The cynic in me says you're right, but it's been done before. Four months is along time and much can be accomplished. You'd be a fool to write us off.
I wouldn't write off leicester at all but it needs to turn around and quick. Even since Pearson, no offence but you havn't been good (or at least as good as i thought you would be under a proper manager). I think it has a massive deal to do with wingers, i cant see how good teams can play without decent wingers in the modern game (or maybe i just think that because leeds have had exceptional ones of late) If i was a leicester fan, i'd be considerably more exciting about the prospect of buying kebe than Sharp
4 months is over 16 games which is over 48 points to play for. We're currently 3 points off playoffs and the the team in 6th right now is on a 3 game losing streak I'll take my chances.
David Cotterill looks like getting a contract And Stringer still thinks Sharp will sign early next week
Make that 15 games, 45 points. You're currently 5 points and 9 goals off the playoffs, Team in 6th just won 6-0, with the former 6th place up to 5th having re-gained momentum after winning 2 games in a row and becoming one of only 2 sides to limit Peterboro to a blank. Chances looking slimmer.... If you can't beat Barnsley at home you're having a laugh for the playoffs aren't you?
