My thoughts on the Everton game

  1. Wasn't an awful performance attacking wise, but it was quite an awful defensive display. Steven Taylor is definetely NOT a fullback, and can only be played in the centre back position. He forgot he was even playing a fullback position today, and went into Everton's box for a set play, which left our right side wide open to attack. He lacks positional awareness at times, and it lead to quite a few Everton chances.

Why not let Perch go into that position? He's not awful, he's just not premier league quality, however, he can do a decent job at times, and is certainly not as bad as Taylor today. Heck why not just let Simpson go back to RB, and put perch at RM? He's not that bad in midfield, his passing is decent and his tackling at times is alright.

We showed how much we missed Barton today. I think we've claimed about 3 points without him all season, and no wins. Am i right? I'm not sure.

I think Ferguson and Harper were the highlight of the day. Harper saved us from a humiliation. Ferguson looked like a very bright young spark, with flair. He made a few mistakes but under massive pressure from a 50,000 crowd 2-1 down, it's to be expected seeing as he's only a kid. I don't see why Jonas doesn't like passing to him. Him and his BFF Jose are too predictable and only like passing to each other. I think Jonas went off because his boyfriend texted him telling him the bath was ready for an extra bum.

Overall i think the result was fair in the end. Everton had so many guilt edged chances, and we played extremely poor defensively. I don't understand why we let Everton just stroll about the pitch unchallenged. We continuesly backed off them, it's like we wanted to get our arses kicked.

    My ratings -

Harper - 9 - My man of the match. Couldn't do much about the goals, saved us from a humiliating defeat with some good saves.

Taylor - 4 - Some good runs down the right wing, but awful job at RB. I know it's not his proper position, but he seemed to forget his role and allow Arteta free runs down the wing. He's a centre back and only a centre back.

    Williamson - 6 - Ok.

Coloccini - 7.5. - A bit shakey at times, but understandable as he was basically alone at the back, as he was one of the few that actually looked alert.

Enrique - 7 - A good performance, but again over playing with the ball for some reason. I hope he's not seriously injured.

Simpson - 6.5 - A decent performance, but his deliveries were hardly threatening.

Nolan - 7 - Played a massive part of our threat on goal, and his run lead to our goal. His dispersal of the ball was good. Looked like a bit of a passenger at times, but was one of the better players.

Tiote - 7 - Not one of his best games, infact i'd say it was his worst, but even so, he gets a 7/10. He wasn't poor, but he wasn't great. His passing was alright, but like Enrique decided to overplay a bit too much and tried to do too much.

Jonas - 7.5 - Crap crossing, but apart from that he did well. He played a good part in our defense, and put in some vital challenges. Him and Colo were the only two that looked like they knew what defending meant. Some good runs and good attacking play from Jonas.

Best - 7.5 - A good performance. I'm really warming to him. You can't argue with his goal scoring record this season, and he's working well with the team, and building a good partnership with Loverman.

Lovenkrands - 6 - Looked threatening, but had a bit of an off day.

Super Shola - 7 - He looked superb when he first came on. He made immediate impact and i thought he was going to score at times. However, after the first 10 minutes of bringing him on, he sort of cooled down a little.

Ferguson - 7 - Good performance. I hope we hold on to him, as i think he could be a cracking player down that left wing for us.

MOM - Harper, and the fans.

I'm not looking forward to Stoke, but i'll be there supporting the lads. The champions league seems to be a blessing in disguise for us. At first, i was annoyed about only having 2 games in 4 weeks, and going without a home game for a whole month, but i just want us to sort ourselves out, as despite our recent success, it could all fall down due to injuries. This long break could help us recover, and boy do we need to.

I don't expect anything from Stoke, but i'm hoping we'll have got our arses back into shape for the home game vs Wolves, as that will be a vital game for us.

If anyone rates him less than 11/10, Chiek has the power to remove the comment with his mind

Agree, except I think Guti was our man of the match, he put in some decent crosses and worked his socks off.

    Good article.

Tiote was my man of the match bossing the midfield on his own again carrying Kevin Nolan

Level 2 in the GG end?

  17. Depends who's fit mate.

Our normal midfield with Barton back on the right. If he isn't fit then Ireland, Guthrie or Perch RM. Best and Lovenkrands to start with Ameobi and Ranger making impact appearances.
It's hard to know who i'd start with all these injuries. Routledge must be pissing himself laughing....

  18. I'm about the 3rd level up, one below the top level, and in the L section <ok> Good seats.
I got an orgasmic view for Tiote's goal :D

    The jizz was volcanic.

You see.... a good article... but did you have to include that pathetic bit about Jose and Jonas..?

You can't make a single article without one piece of immaturity...

  20. Howay mate it was just a joke, but it had a point behind it though. Jonas and Enrique never seem to want to pass to others, and are quite predictable at times.
Take a joke man for gods sake.
