Am I reading too much into things but does anybody else think that it could be Fergie delaying things so that King cant play at the weekend against his sons team ??? - just a thought
Not really. I dont think he would play anyway. Would be lucky to get a bench spot this weekend, imo. Nick said last night that the delay is down to paperwork from the german club King was at. City have enough in the camp already for this match.
We were hoping he would be in yesterday/today in time for the bench tomorrow but not likely now, still hoping he will be in today though.
Couldnt be bothered to start another new thread so will post it here..... Is our relationship with ManU even stronger than before new Barmby is in charge with his lad been at ManU...........if so can only be a good thing
Nothing concrete at all. I think you will find we probably won't do that much more business. Another wide man if we can with a couple of options being looked at (offered made as we know for one). We have been looking at/offered a couple of midfielders but more likely summer business, 99% unlikely to bring anything defensively in. If we don't lose anyone then they are very happy with what we have in already. The Man Utd thing hasn't changed since NP left and NB took over, and there is no special relationship as such, Nick and Fergie aren't best buddies. It is all very professional, we know that they develop players in the right way and have been wise enough to take advantage on those who aren't good enough for Utd.
I doubt many on here (me included) are 'very happy with what we have' in the forward department. Maybe Josh King might be the answer, but he is still an untested rookie and could easily struggle. We need to invest in a reliable goal scorer to put pressure on Fryatt and McClean if we're going to really compete for promotion.
Well unfortunately, you, nor anyone else on here are part of the management team at Hull City. I would be VERY surprised to see another forward coming in apart from King, that is currently the thinking anyway.
I don't think we need another forward unless it's a big bustling bastard!!! Otherwise, I'd just focus on finding a wide player better than Brady and a defender who knows how to meet a corner in the opposition box.
We have Olifinjana for headers from corners and free kicks now. But Nick wants his teams football played on the deck which is fine by me. Lets see how the window pans out. T.W.T.
I'm quite happy with the approach NP and NB have taken the last 18 months. We still need a plan B though and have for that whole time. I think NB is naive if he thinks otherwise.
Teams with a lot more money to spend than us struggle to find a reliable striker who can score at this level. Do you go for someone from a lower league (Jordan Rhodes type) unproven above league 1 who will command a big transfer fee. Or an ageing prem league player (yakubu type) who will expect massive wages. We just have to accept that at the minute a 20 plus goal a season striker is beyond us, so taking a chance on someone like Josh King is our best bet.
I think that after this window there will be two tiers at the top of the table. One will be made up of the clubs that already had good competitive teams, but also invested in that 'killer signing' (probably at a cost of £2.5million minimum) to make them promotion favourites. I think Southampton and West Ham will be two teams in that bracket and I fear Leicester could be the third. The clubs in the second tier will already have strong teams and will invest prudently in this window. We are likely to be among those teams and we will still have a good chance of promotion (probably via the play-offs), but our chances will rely more on luck with injuries / suspensions than the teams in the top tier.
Nick Barmby, naive ? No Theo, remember this whole thing is huge surprise to him. He no doubt had an ambition to be manager some day. But there's no way he could know it would come so soon. He's had no pre season if you like. At the end of the day Nick's arm has been twisted,by the club and maybe even more so by the fans. He has all the experience a man new to management is ever going to need, and should be given the benefit of doubt until he has failed to deliver for at least two full seasons.
