Prediction Competition – Match 21

Back to the league season after what seems like an eternity. Our first match under Mark Hughes is away to Newcastle, Sunday lunchtime, live on sky. As we seem to have a fair few newcomers on the site who are very welcome to join in, but are along way behind the leaders, I’ll reiterate the rules.

All you need to do is predict the result in QPR’s matches and the goal scorers for both teams. The exact score will get you 5 points, the correct type of result (i.e. QPR win, draw, undeserved win for the other lot) will get 2 points and each correct scorer will gain a bonus point. I’m sure that you have all got enough common sense to predict the right number of scorers to match the score you’ve given. It couldn’t be easier. To stop people predicting 11 – 11 and listing every possible goalscorer to cash in on the bonus points we added a rule that if your predicted score is more than 3 goals greater than the actual score you get nothing, so if you predict 5 – 0 and the score is 1 – 0 you lose.

So, if I predict that QPR will benefit from new manager syndrome and somehow draw 2 - 2, with HH and Mackie to score for us and Best and Cayabe to score for them and it happens I would get 9 points. If we draw 1 - 1 with HH and Taylor scoring I’d get 3 points. If we lose 2 – 0 with Best scoring both, I’d get 1 point as I only predicted he’d score once. You can change your prediction up to kick off time. Please do so by editing your original post, not with a new posting. I'm more than happy for any of our friendly visitors to join in as well.

This is a tough one. We bullied them at LR, but didn't capitalise on it. We are down a few of our best players. Looks unlikely that we'll have new blood by Sunday...... But the Sparky factor may put the fear of god into some of our underperformers, so......

I lost my optimism at Christmas time and this week hasn't helped so far, so I go Newcastle 2 (Best 1, Shola Amoebe 1) - QPR 0.

And Roller, many thanks for the rule details, I never bothered with the other team scorers, on the rare occasions I gave them any goals at all, cos I didn't give a f*kk!
