The Dutchman has been one of the standout performers for the Magpies this season, and has conceded just 25 goals in 20 Premier League games.

Many had expected Steve Harper to be Shay Given’s long-term successor to the Newcastle when the Irishman left to join Manchester City in 2009, yet such have been the quality of Krul’s performances he has pushed the veteran to the sidelines.

Not only have the 23-year-old's recent performances earned him club recognition, he also received his first senior international cap for the Netherlands last year.

The Dutchman has been attracting interest from many big Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Tottenham.

With Brad Friedel seemingly in the twilight of his career and Petr Cech prone to a few recent errors, the two London sides are said to be interested in the young shot-stopper.

However, the Tyneside club are reluctant to see one of their star men leave and hope their valuation of him will deter prospective bidders.

Vorm is worth around the 20m mark without a doubt. Considering Man Utd paid something like 18.5m for an average goalkeeper in De Gea then I'd say that probably pushes Vorm up beyond 20m. What a buy he's proved to be!

Players are only worth what people are prepared to pay for them at any particular time.

Not much to choose between Krull and Vorm imo. I think Vorm is number two to Stecklenberg for Holland and Krull number three so that may make a difference. Both have been absolutely phenomenal this season for sure.

yes lets not get carried away here with what vorm is worth....£20 million is silly money and at the moment he is priceless to us that i hope we can keep him. You cant put a price on him until someone put in a serious bid for him and at that point the board will have to decide if its a fair offer or not, ....what is he worth??? who knows its whether more than one team will value him at and what they will pay. i dont expect him to go until the end of the season where if he carrys on with his impressive form then bids will fly into the club and he could then go for huge money.

£25M for Vorm in that case then and not a penny less, the only problem would be replacing him.

Putting my money grabbing hat on, if Vorm was to be sold (please no!), then it would be short sighted to sell him before this summers European Championship, where he could possibly end up being the Dutch number 1 and having a stormer

Both are equal in ability in my opinion so if Krul is worth £15 million then so is Vorm

For starters, £15-16million would make Krul the 4th most expensive keeper in the history of football itself, behind Buffon, Neuer and De Gea (who, at the time of buying, was THE world's best young prospect). We're talking stupidly high money here for a goalkeeper, and £15mill has likely been set to put potential buyers off.

And then there's the age. Vorm is 28, which may give him potentially another 10 years if he trains well. Krul is potentially on par with Vorm at the age of 23, and could have another 15+ years left at the top level, and is also very likely to improve further than Vorm does over the coming years.

£25million is just an utterly moronic suggestion.

You're right, it would also be moronic to pay 50 million for a stiker.

Football clubs are only recently beginning to realise that a good keeper is as important as a good striker. Prices have been going up for a while.

as someone else mentioned, the 15m krul valuation was more to say he's not for sale unless you bid silly money, rather than what he's worth, but football's full of silly bids at the moment. i'd say krul would have the higher sell on value as he's 5 years younger than vorm.

Vorm is playing brilliantly but we are only half way through the season . Seems to me Carrol had a great first half last season at Newcastle & Liverpool payed 35 million in the January window after that half season & has basically flopped at Liverpool . Not saying that would happen with Vorm but an 8 million offer would have me selling for sure . If he stays & plays brilliantly the 2nd half of the season , he'll probably move on anyways .

Got to say was very impressed with Vorm when you battled for a 0-0 draw at Newcastle last month and both keepers seem to be quality, but for me Krul is the better keeper and is worth more than 15 million think the story was a case of poor journalism. Also just a quick one to say well done so far this season you guys have been impressive.

i think this will be his one and only season with us as he is worthy of a big club and come the summer these big clubs will come calling if he continued his fine form, i want to see 3 or 4 big clubs trying to bid for him and then we may see the record broken for a keeper. one thing that is for sure he is to good for a small club like ours and cant see him not going to a big club in the summer.....

I love the positive attitude you've got going there superswan!!!! <doh>

Of course we're not the biggest club in the world but I don't want us to become a selling club, IMO it's not the way to remain competative!
