From his season long loan at Plymouth according to the City Facebook page.

Seems strange to me, unless he's got a permanent club lined up and we're getting a small fee for him?

Certainly odd - I've not been at all impressed with him in the past and he's certainly not going to get anywhere near the first team ahead of Brady, Stewart or Garcia.

(Edit) Tweet from Phil Buckingham - "First Liam Cooper back in the frame, now Will Atkinson recalled from Plymouth. Know from past interviews NB is a big admirer of WA"

    This worries me.

Only thing I can think of is Barmby fancies giving Brady a go off the striker and fancies Garcia as a striker which would leave us a little bit short out wide, but I can't see that happening.

On Cooper, I reckon his performance on Saturday has saved us a few quid, I thought he was outstanding and if we got an offer we couldn't refuse for Hobbs or Chester I'd give him a run in the side.

There's no way Garcia will play up top ahead of Fryatt, Simpson, McLean and King.

I can't agree on the Cooper front, either. Yes he was outstanding but we only have 3 centre halves so as happy as I'd be to give him a run in the team when the time is right, this should only be the case if we drop Hobbs or Chester, not sell them.

Something is delaying the king deal. Wonder if this signals it isn't happening.

I don't get this one at all, Nick may like him, but he's not good enough to make our first team.

Maybe we do have a permanent deal for him somewhere, he's out of contract in the summer anyway, I can't see any other reason for recalling him.

this is wierd. we seem to be having a review of our resources somehow. is this a pre-cursor to a mass clear-out i wonder? next we will be re-employing Jimmy Bullard (oh dear I typed it?)

Really don't understand this, he was getting on alright and plenty of game time at Plymouth wasn't he?

EDIT: Unless he can't be on loan for a new contract to be signed. Maybe we recalled him for contract talks and he'll be off again? I know AP rates him at least.

Likewise, I am wondering if we will now get King because it seems to becoming a bit drawn out.

Being on loan wouldn't stop him signing a new deal, I'm still still hoping with recalled him to flog him.

The lad's ****e. No pace, no left foot, no right foot, no head, no tackling ability, no shooting ability, no crossing ability... Christ, if he was good-looking I'd have him in the squad just so I had something nice to look at in the programme on matchdays, but he's an ugly **** too. Get rid of him, Sir Nicky.

Nick Barmby likes him and will have seen his abilities close up in training etc over a number of years. So whose opinion should I value ?? Nicks, or the ones on here who have maybe seen the odd reserve game or few minutes in the first team ?? I'm not sure. After all what does Nick Barmby know about football !!

<doh> if you're going to take that stance, why bother coming onto a football forum?

Stewart is one of our best players, if not best. There's no way he'll get ahead of him. We've only just extended the Brady loan so if he planned to play Atkinson he wouldn't have bothered. NB likes Garcia so I don't see WO getting ahead of him either.
I'd have McLean, Simpson or Devitt ahead of Atkinson on the wing, too. Hell, I'd even stick Harper out there ahead of him.

...Or the fans who have seen him play 20-odd times this season?

Barmby even gave Dawson a stint on the wing ahead of Will

I've been checking that Plymouth forum every couple of months or so to see how he's been doing, and the bloke halfway down the second page of the link above says it all - lost his place to a youth-teamer. They're BOTTOM of the Football League. Of 92 clubs, they're in 92nd place. He's 23 as well for ****'s sake! Give him to Grimsby and be done with it.

Not just bottom of the league, but bottom of the league and ecstatic to be rid of him. They sound more excited about losing him than we do about Paul McShane sodding off.
