the liverpool fans sat near them gave witness staements, fair play to them. So this "manc Bastard" thing is just utter lies YET AGAIN
You now can see the huge effort the scousers are making to rectify that huge PR disaster caused by Dalglish with the Suarez T-shirt and the attack on the FA (even though they did not appeal). Now all over the world the scousers club is seen as a club that at best condones attacks on black players coming to anfield, from their own players and from their fans. Each time, the scousers sing their Suarez song it will be viewed as support for the denigration of black people. I am surprised they have taken so long to go on the PR offensive. may be they did not realise the damage caused. First they release that apology to Adeyemi (2 days late) and now they release this statement about Liverpool taking a stand for anti racism. Far too little too late I say. It really smacks of desperation. By waiting, they have given their fans (including those on the Liverpool board here) plenty of time to show their true colours and to hang themselves. They thought they were supporting Dalglish by arguing the N word was acceptable, they even attacked the poor Oldham player before the club released the apology. They will need to work very hard to prevent the club from becoming symbolic of the barriers still facing those who want to fight racism. Let's see how they treat Evra when he comes to Anfield for the FA Cup match. If the crowd sings racist songs against him or even boo him, the whole world will see this as evidence that the scousers fans are intolerant of black people. Let's see what the club advises their fans. Will their fans sing their support for Suarez? Will the scousers players (including the poor ignorant G Johnson) wear T-shirts again? The scousers are really in a sticky mess and it couldn't have happen to nicer people ...
I can see bigger problems when Suarez comes to OT in Feb. After all, I had a mate at uni who we all referred to as "Spic". It was a very friendly nickname, so I assume it's fine for Utd fans to scream it at Suarez from the terraces?
I suppose the reaction at OT will be dependent to a certain extent on the reception Evra gets at Anfield. If he is booed mercilessly I can see OT retaliating. If we see lots of Suarez banners we and others can draw our own conclusions on the various statements the club has released about racism. They did not appeal against one of the most severe sentences that had been given for this sort of thing and yet they still haven't apologised to Evra. What does it say about all their supposed stand against racism? Unless they sincerely apologise to the real victim - Evra , I cannot how we can take all these statements seriously. On your point about screaming at Suarez: it is not Ok to do that either. Targetting a player for abuse is not on and should not be condoned.
Liverpool fans on this board have shown themselves up to be ****ing blatently racist over recent weeks. It is nice to see their true colours, as they sum up their little city perfectly
Yes, other liverpool fans sat around him have given interviews saying they clearly heard it. I wont repeat it
Because you are being ****ing stupid. Why would I repeat in a private message the racial abuse that a liverpool fan shouted. Use your ****ing computer and get your head out of the sand
Yes because we're all so immature that repeating a statement would be ever so offensive. It might kill puppies. It's a matter of curiosity more than anything. Either way instead of having this argument you could have just told me, but given you consider the statement the to sound something like Voldemort I'll go elsewhere.
I read to day that Mancini has come out and said what all managers outside Liverpool have been thinking. Suarez apology to Evra was important and should have happened as soon as he was punished. mancini may well be the fiercest rival for the title we have but we have to respect the guy for having the courage to say the right thing. Of course Suarez should have apologised to Evra. In fact if he had done it after the match he would not have been suspended and we would all have moved on. At the moment., we have that ludicrous situation of Suarez and the club accepting a ban of 8 match and yet refusing loudly to apologise to Evra the victim. What message does this send to all about their position on racism? Their statements would and should not be taken seriously. In the meantime hats off to Mancini.
