Reports this morning, Hughes flush with cash , QPR to bid £7m for Samba .

Then I remembered he brought Samba to Blackburn Rovers. However, look at his other profile signings .....

He entered the transfer market for Rovers , bringing in players such as Benni McCarthy (£2 million), David Bentley (£500,000), Ryan Nelsen (free), Stephen Warnock (£1.5 million)and Roque Santa Cruz (£3.5 million).

At Man City, things warmed up signing Wayne Bridge , Robinho , Craig Bellamy from West Ham United, Shay Given from Newcastle United as well as Nigel de Jong from Hamburger SV, Gareth Barry from Aston Villa, Roque Santa Cruz from Blackburn Rovers, Carlos Tévez from Media Sports Investments, Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Touré from the Gooners.

    .............................................................................................................................................

Tell you what , Hughes is bloody good at spending other peoples money ( with not much success to show for it)!

He seems to be one of those manager who is able to pick up a bargain as well...if you look at his signings for Blackburn.

Think Hughes can work to a budget, some players work out and some don't no matter how much you spend on them. Did some good business at Blackburn.

tbf they're all pretty good signings for Rovers. will be very annoyed if he manages to get Samba (especially before Sunday)

    7m?

We should be in for him! If QPR get Samba then I'll be pissed off so much.

To be fair even the ones he spent big money on (apart from Santa Cruz) looked good signings until he left.

He did get Santa Cruz at Blackburn for £3.5M I think, just wasn't given a decent run at Citeh, was a good goalscorer for Rovers under Hughes.

Santa Cruz had a really good first season at Blackburn if I recall. 20+ goals or something in all competitions.
