On tonights Sportstalk, Humberside turned racist by describing Ebanks-Blake as a 'chunky monkey'. You never know they might have to actually employ some journalists now!
My paternal grandmother used to call me and my brother monkey but we never felt racially insulted by it.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah ha ha ha! humour! well done robin! so what you are saying is that it's only racist if the person being called monkey has a higher iq than a monkey? it is more complicated than i suspected.
Just thought that Al Read wouldn't have seen anything wrong with it. Younger members can Google Al Read.
Nothing racist about that , infact id go as far as to say you are being more racist by making the assumption that Blakes colour is somehow related to being called chunky monkey.
Calling someone black a monkey is racist. Calling Peter Reid and Martin Keown a monkey is both funny and accurate. Ebanks Blake isn't half chunky though, no controversy in that half of the statement.
I've always liked Ebanks Blake but if his standard has dropped to the way he played against Brumscum on Saturday I'm not so sure, he could have won them that game 10 times over! Probably just an off day, bet he's hardly featured this season anyway so can't blame him for being a bit blunt.
Reference to Monkey can be that you are cheeky, hence the saying "Cheeky monkey". But what that has to do with football, I have no idea
Just listening to Five Live and there is going to be a bit on this morning about the Notts forest fans chanting to the Lesta fans, " you used to be English" or something like that, and is this a racist comment? Might be interesting listening.
Not racist at all, their owners have publicly stated that they are now 'Thai foxes'. You remember that YouTube video?
