It's a good point, but Maynard is a good example of a club not taking their chance when it is presented to them. Can't see Donny staying up whatever, so they may as well sell now.
Donny will be staying up everybody has had us favourites to go down for the last 10 years but we carry on proving they don't know much about football. Just the same as when I came on here and said we'd beat you 2-1, you lot said there is no way little Donny could beat you and I was called an idiot thinking we could win(I still haven't had an apology). All this underestimating little Donny works in our favour even in the transfer market. How did Billys medical go today then?
I hope you do stay up, I always back the underdog. Cov, Forest and Bristol City for all the bull about Maynard would be ideal for me...
I believe he's referring to rumours (from yesterday) that he would be having a medical today. However, instead were reading stories that Doncaster are going to break the bank to keep him, and Sharp saying he's not rushing to make his mind up. Basically, ETS is taking the piss.
Well, Strigner said he expects it to be done by Wednesday but that was before Donny's offer came in. I would think that he was giving it serious consideration and he's aid he will take his time before deciding. Hope he's an LCFC player by the Barnsley game though.
Well ideally he wants to go to the Prem now, but it's always the same - do you risk going to the Prem and warming the bench, or go to a club like Leicester, become an established part of the team, and get into the Prem sooner or later with us?
^ there is blind optimism and then there is realism? Do i think we will go up? with the right signings i think we will scrape it- a few wins in this division and anything can happen.
Iv told you before the play off final is nailed on...Hull City v Leicester city.....Cameron Stewart getting the 90th minute winner for Hull City to break Nigels heart .....
I expressed reservations pre-season. If you look at the likes of Chelsea ans Man City, it took them at least one full season to get on course for where they really wanted to be. I didn't see why we'd be any different. We'll either sneak it this season or romp it next.
To be Honest I would much rather we got Cox on loan than buy Sharpe. Bristol fans seem to think they will get Cox in part exchange for Maynard? From past experience hes been reluctant to come here but perhaps a loan spell would benefit both parties?
Quote from Billy Sharp. “I am glad the speculation is there – if it wasn’t, it would mean I wasn’t scoring goals,” Sharp said. “There will be more speculation but I’m going to give it 110 per cent for Doncaster until I am told otherwise. Hopefully, I will keep scoring goals and a Premiership team will come in.”
I'm sure that's an old quote made before our interest became apparent? Anyway, the Mercury say that his new deal at Donny will be 'the most lucrative in the club's history' whilst ours is rumoured to total around £5 million over a three and a half year period (about 28K a week). However, money is not the primary factor in Billy's decision. It depends on what that is for me. If it was a straight choice between us and Donny and the main factor is chances of playing PL football in the not too distant future, then we'll get him. But if it's to stay settled with his family and reward the loyalty shown to him then he'll stay at Donny.
