I'm pleased about this. Aside from the safety risks, I've never understood what the point of them was anyway. Not only do they make you look like a complete nancy, but seriously, it's not like they're playing in the arctic circle.

Never really bothered me. I've never understood why people get so wound up by players keeping themselves warm.

Anyway, my reaction to this news is "meh".

In December, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson added: "Real men don't wear snoods."

And writing on Twitter, United defender Rio Ferdinand said: "U won't see a Man Utd player wearing a snood."

Is that the reason we were able to sign Stewart?

I can see the point of a snood for somebody like Tevez, it's the next best thing down from a brown paper bag.

I'd prefer them to just work harder if they're cold ;)

I still think gloves with short sleeves is worse than snoods for it though.

It's good to see FIFA talking about something as serious as Snoods instead of something petty like technology.

It was at the IFAB meeting, and they banned snoods as well as agreeing to continue trials with technology.

I honestly don't get this attitude. Who cares if they're playing in snoods as long as they're performing.

What do you mean by "soft"? Personally, I couldn't care less if they were playing anoraks as long as they performed to the best of their ability.

TBF, I'd think it'd be uncomfortable to be wearing what's essentially a scarf whilst playing football, but if it's helping other footballers perform I don't see the problem with it.

Helping footballers?? they wear them as a fashion thing only, it doesnt help them play better atall, agreed that they should give 100% its just some are more concerned with how they look than how they play

The problem was the technology requirements were so stringent (setting up, instantaneous decision etc) that no-one had any hope of meeting them - the main company (Hawkeye I think) didn't even bother presenting because of this. So a useful political exercise for the dusty old FIFA duffers to keep things like the 60s, but achieved nothing in terms of moving into the 21st century.

yeah. scarfs thats the next new big thing till some arsenal player gets strngled to death by two blackburn players grabbing each end and running in opposite directions. then it'll be hats. national hats. so mexicans get ot play in somberos english players if there are any left play in bowlers and so on. thatll all be illegalised when the germs turn up for an international game in a spiked helmet.
