Yeah, lives in one of the villages close by, Very often see in the town on a sunday morning and he is always willing to have a chat about all things Ipswich. Played against him a few times aswell on a sunday morning when he played for Newton Con Club, and it was always me who had the unfortunate task of marking him at corners, I gave away a penalty against him once, When he took it the ball and our keeper finished up in the back of the net!

    Wow! Fair Play Guru

I used to have my breakfast with him in Jacks Cafe going back a good few years ago now! I don't suppose you know what his opinions are on the state of our club? Or would that break a confidence?

If John Wark is such a legend at Portaloo rd, and held in such high regard, could he not be persuaded to be involved with the club somehow?. Even if it's just putting the fear of God into those that he doesn't think are giving 100%?

Or is that he has no interest in managing your team, or indeed any team?

He is involved on the hospitality side of things <yikes> What a bloody waste when he should be out on the road scouting for the next generation of young stars! It tells you all you need to know about our club at the moment. Not a ****ing clue!

Tough choice for me between Kevin Beattie and Matt Holland. I would go for Holland purely as he was a player I have actually seen play and was the greatest captain while I've been supporting Ipswich Town.

If there was only 1 and I could have a free choice it would be the genius that was SBR. In many ways I am glad that he died when he did so he didnt have to see us go down the tubes in the fashion we did. RIP Great Man.
In playing terms, its hard to choose. I have only been a regular since the mid 90's so would have to have the passion and commitment of Naylor. The calm and reassured central defenders of Mcgreal and De Vos. The RB's who knew what they were doing in either Wilnis or David Wright. The skill of Reuser. The magic of a 6ft4 LB that was Hermann. Richard Wright, Kelvin Davies or Neil Alexander between the sticks or the captain that knew what captaincy meant in Holland
Cheers for depressing me about how poor we are!! Now of to cry in a dark room - cheerio

Haven't seen him for a couple of weeks, but i know that when PJ was appointed he was quite postive. See even God can get things wrong!

The leadership and passion of Matt Holland would make a world of difference to our current lot, also a bit of clever passing from the (Playing) legend Jim Magilton would give us some creativity again, but I'd love to Marcus Stewart back. I can't think of many better strikers we've had in my lifetime anyway, pure class

Warky is without doubt my fave player, but, to kick these excuses as players we have on the pitch into shape, we need someone with (in the words of Hansen) true grit, which Butcher personified. As for someone who could turn an average team into an unbeatable team, then it has to be sir Alf.
On a seperate note, i did bump into Alan Brazil a few weeks back (hurt me more than him) but unfortunately didn't have any time for me...miserable sod ;-)

I'd take Darren Bent back in a heatbeat too...

and Tony Mowbray (either as a central defender or as manager)

Imagine if there could be a retro season where all clubs got to bring back a century's worth of legends back! There wouldn't be too much change at Barcelona but think how epic a season that would be...
