MARK HUGHES has told QPR he needs £30million to pull them clear of relegation and chase an ambitious list of targets headed by Darren Bent and Didier Drogba. Hughes is ready to be confirmed as successor to Neil Warnock after meeting Loftus Road officials yesterday. The Daily Express last month revealed QPR’s interest in Bent and Hughes wants to test Aston Villa’s resolve. They insist Bent is not for sale, but there is a belief he wants to move further south. Hughes may have more luck persuading Chelsea to do business on Drogba, who is out of contract this summer. Blackburn’s Chris Samba, Chelsea’s Alex and Wayne Bridge of Manchester City are also targets.
Love to see how this will affect our books. If he really has asked for £30m then he's holding us to ransom. We can't afford to spend that! It'll take the owners years to recoup. That's how you send a small club bankrupt. Spending beyond our means. He must know that.
What about the wages to income rules bearing in mind we only have an 18,000 capacity at the moment. Can we go past the 20,000 with ground improvements at LR?
I suppose it depends where the funds will come from, how they will be used, etc. I cant believe that TF is funding this 'project',I just dont think he is rich enough!. Hoping its not another ABC situation, but Im sure we will find out soon. I see the 'People' rag is saying Hughes will be given up to 8 mill to bring new players in?!..That would just about cover the expensis!
Thirty million quid!? If he spent that and we still went down, he would not only deserve the sack... he ought to be shot!
Thirty million - I reckon I could easily keep us up with that amount. I don't suppose my Championship Manager experience is evidence enough of my abilities to get the job?
IF Hughes does come in and IF he does get £30 mill, then AT is likely to be on his way out as he is probably the most saleable asset we have. Some of the other players mentioned on other links that will consider surplus to requirements, are not likely to bring in that much cash. Buzz £800 - 1mill Dave - free Vine - free Perone ?? Cook free Rowly £150k ? Cerny free Hall - ?? ****tu free to £200k (depending on contract as I cannot remember when it finishes) Dyer -free Derry / Hill wil go to NW's next club AT £7mill to £15mill depending on who is going to offer what cash Will be interesting days ahead. Maybe if Bridge gets his Citeh contract paid up, Drogs (the same although cannot see him coming to Loftus Rd), Samba £7 mill..... another day on the QPR Rollercoaster.......
i cant believe he has asked this. also the smaller club like us dont spend this sort of money in january
Just goes to prove the importance of Premiership survival to Tony who's plans for QPR hinge upon building a new stadia, training complex, academy and making QPR the number one club in Asia. Man City have spent well beyond what their owners can recoup through the club. I think survival is paramount so £30m is not a large amount to spend on building a team that currently has a majority of its players that saved us from relegation into League 1 only 18 months ago. Time stands still for no man
I have always said that the club would have to spend £50,000,000+ to stay up! Some of you in the past, even on BBC606 I was laugh at, well now you can see why? NW has gone (sad) New man wants £30,000,000 + so I was not far out?. I remember when we used to have 28000 a game in the 70`s, why not enlarge the ground to fit that No; ? Can be done with some thinking and good planing!
Hmm, I reckon even Gary Megson could get us to mid-table with 30million - but my main concern is where this money is coming from and does it need to be paid back? City was bankrolled by Mansour's throwaway petrodollars - is Mittal funding this?
I would like to kow where the paper got this info from! From watching SSN last night, Hughes was very evasive when he left loftus road. Drogba will never swap a team with champions league football to a team staring at relegation. Villa will never sell Bent. This seems a bit like stiring the pot a bit and its already got supporters questioning Hughes. He hasn't even signed on yet - although I'm sure he will and when he does he needs as much support as we all gave Neil when he arrived. As for TF he has made a business decision with the Club in mind. We are QPR supporters not Neil Warnock supporters. Neil did a job for us (Very very well) but he has now left. We need to show our support to the club and whoever is leading it forward towards premiership survival.
You watch, he'll agree terms after being told Villa and Chelsea have been approached regarding Bent and Drogba and then you'll end up with Jermaine Beckford and Ryan Lowe
Hughes has stated that he will only join if the club has true ambition. Given what he has achieved in the game already that must include a target of European football within a couple of years. We need to look at his spending plans in the light of this kind of longer term future rather than as a PL makeweight. If the board do not believe this is a viable project then MH is the wrong man for the job anyway and would be gone the next time an offer comes along. Timing is the thing here. Will the Board fund a £50-100m loss over the next several years while a new stadium is built and a quality squad built? It's a huge gamble of course but one that Lakshmi Mittal could take if his son in law has his ear. If Hughes signs on we will have a clear sign of future intentions.
hughes demands, if true, are completely ridiculous. you need to walk before you can run. i think hughes would be a mistake. hope i'm wrong chaps. good luck
