The passing of Bob Holness http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-16450465 got me thinking. Are there any not-606ers out there who appeared on this or any TV show as a child? I never did myself, but when I was in the sixth form at school (upper 6th) a boy in the lower 6th did go on Blockbusters. So how about you, or some-one you know? Did Jim fix it for you? Were you the spotty herbert with glasses that always knew the answers to the obscure questions on Screen-Test? Did you win a Crackerjack pen (or pencil for older readers) Did you send a picture in that actually got shown in the Gallery on Take Hart, or Vision On (in old money!)? I know they couldn't return it, but what was the prize for any that were shown? Were you one of the kids that jumped into the pool when Ron Pickering yelled "Away You Go!" on We Are The Champions? Did you get on air when you phoned in to Multi Coloured Swap Shop, or one of its later replacements? Who did you speak to? There are many many more possibilities from the past, so let's hear your experiences.
Yes mate was on the radio as an ovalteeny. (Just don't ask) Missed Cracker Jack because of Mumps. My daughter was on Southern TV education programme and one a top prize.
I was interviewed on Sky news a couple of years ago. It didn't get used for long as I have a face for radio.
My arm was on London ink (Tattoo programme uk version of Miami ink). They didn't talk to me etc, as I didn't have a sad depressing story for the reason why I was getting my tattoo done. Was also on Meridian as a child dressed as a ghost . Was on their again about a book reading thing I did when I was 6 . God I was a geek at school.
I was interviewed by Kirsty Wark for Panorama once, for a programme on defence. It was never shown because Iraq went and invaded Kuwait a few days laeter and they obviously decided that was more newsworthy than my opinions on dfence exports (or the arms trade as they prefer to call it).
i was in the crowd in soccer am a couple months ago it was the one with lee trundle and the lead singer from blink 182, got on telly when they did the redknapp or blackmore game
Got got interviewd by bbc news cameras not long after west quay opened don't know if it got shown lol
Not as a kid, but I was on a TV Fans Football quiz representing Saints, before ITV Digital went bust. It was a bit like Question of Sport but for fans just on football. I did a 1 minute spot light round on the 76 cup run. This was in 2001 Geeeeeeeeeeek
I seem to remember that screening, only for the fact that we were all throwing rotten tomatoes at our telly!
what? And not applauding an excellent 1 minute round, that even included answering one question after the first three words? I'm shocked and deeply upset!
I was interviewed about my 12 year old thoughts on city of Paris, of all things, by Barry Westwood on Day By Day.
Well i'm in lower sixth right now but i did some work as an extra a couple of years ago, the most major things being the Golden Compass and a film called 'Never let me go'
In the sixties I was at Cardiff University and was approached by an interviewer as I walked through the city centre and was asked if I thought the welsh should have an assembly and I replied,'Anything if it will keep them quiet.' I had no great political knowledge; it was just the only thing I could think to say. I never saw it myself, but friends told me they used it in the title sequence of the programme.
my boy was the star when I was interviewed outside st mary's waiting for MLT book signing. I told the south today tv man that i was just sad that my lad (8 then) had never seen Matt Le Tiss play, when he piped up "Yes I have Dad, I've seen him on the play station"... priceless.
