reason im asking is that this was to be tidied up over the weekend . Im a bit concerned that the conspiracy theory in me is telling me that there is a sticking point. Namely Stewart to Leicester , id rather keep him , but im sure we can find suitable replacements within the club and elsewhere.
i thought the club had more or less made it clear that stewart was not being sold, but i suppose theres more than one player of ours teams are looking at.
Barmby will not sign a permanent deal until he knows that certain players are not been sold. The longer it takes NB to sign the greater the chances are that we will lose a Stewart or Rosenior. If we did sell a top player in January NB would think long and hard about performing this role any longer than this season
We keep saying these things as if they are the concrete truth. Do we have an article or interview from NB saying this or are we just assuming it; is there a citation?
I dont have a citation however I am sure that is the key reason before NB puts pen to paper. Whilst NB wants the job he doesnt need the job, therefore he'll only sign up if he's happy with the plans the Allams have for the squad. He won't sign up if he doesn't like what the Allams say. In a way it is quite refreshing to have a manager who only wants the role if he thinks he can get us promoted, there are many managers who are mainly concerned with the size of their pay packet - and I'm not naming anyone as this post isn't a dig at other managers at all
He retired from football, if that doesn't indicate his commitment and will to stay as manager, I'm not sure what will.
It isn't the desire of the players to stay, Barmby is weighing up the desire of the Allams to invest in (or keep) players before signing
Nick is happy with the assurances his received and the only reason for a delay has been sorting the paperwork. Move along please, there's no conspiracy for you here....
So much worrying and conspiracy theories looming on this board at the moment. I can understand why after the last regime but Allam didn't pump 30 million into us to steadily make it all back after only a couple of seasons by selling our promising youngsters. I thought he came in because he loves the area so much and wanted to give something back. Call me naive but I believe he has good intentions. If anyone goes in this transfer window that we wanted to keep hold of, then it'll be for silly money, for the players' personal benefit and I'm sure we'll have, at the very least, a plan B in place... no way will we have a Sonko situation on our hands again. I'm more interested to see who Barmby's first 'original' signing will be and if it works out. Something about Nigey boys tenure was that he certainly knew how to bring good players in on the cheap! Hopefully NB learnt a lot about this whilst watching him!
1st 'original' signing. Brady came here through Pearson originally. PB probably had a 20% success rate with signings (might be a bit harsh) NP probably had an 80% success rate with signings Nicky could be the best tactician in the world for example, but if he brings in poor players he's got an uphill struggle. I'm looking forward to seeing the first player he brings to this club who hasn't previously played here.
