    Is he appealing?

If so he might play in the home tie of the semi for them.

can't see them over turning that if they didn't over turn Barton's one... mind you Barton removed any chance he had on twitter feed.

Hopefully the appeal will be heard before Wednesday and he gets 8 matches... then we can move on safe in the knowledge the Fa like all good refs "evened things up"

Hopefully as well city are dog tired, the pitch is ruined and we can play aerial tennis with carroll and lescott for 90mins and take a 0-0 back to anfield.... or alternatively gerrard can score one and show the way

I'd like to add Bellamy running off Carroll and running straight at Savic to see what he is made of ( assuming he plays there with kompany and toure out).

If they do it is bound to fail imo.

Going by the letter of the law it was a straight red - I really don't understand the circus around it.

True, but they did rescind the Sammon and Rodwell ones, which were flailing elbow and showing studs. The appeals process does seem a bit random at times...

Aye, t'was a good day, great match and an even better result ;) We'll have to sort something out for the 4th round!

Sounds fair to me - after all he obviously only fouled Nani cos he was black <ok>

Tho' apparently Kompany gets a four match ban as it's his second red of the season. So you are quids in anyway!

It's a fairly straight forward call, i mean ok Townsend hammered on about it for about 70 odd minutes but its not like he is a paragon of virture.

for me the ref dealt with it, they will not let it go as the video evidence is clear. the laws of the game are hilarious..... if he'd not seen it the fa might or might not look at it... but usually only when the media are screaming about it... if it was a yellow no more could be done even if nani had his career ended but as its a red it will be dealt with as an appeal.

This ref was consistent with this http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2070404/Graham-Poll-Jay-Spearing-sent-off.html

poll may be an ass and a self publicist but he is right that safety of player sis the primary duty of the ref... if the rain had been heavier form longer then he would have had to look at the pitch for example.

one ref was foy the other friend.. in both cases they applied the law i nthe same way as far as i can see, neither men have ever been credited with an ounce of common sense.

whoo hoo! 4 matches... oh that is good news... now did you lot crock aguero for me like i asked?

hopefully they will play nasri again, he's so ineffective compared to silva... maybe we might be very lucky and see that keeper as well <laugh>

best news I've heard since the fa cup 4th round draw.... bring it on...

That's the problem, the letter if the law not used consistently, if they gave a red card for every challenge like that then fine but they don't, Giggs did a tackle from behind and never even got booked so im afraid the letter of the law argument is not valid. IMO is the ref had any common sense or played football at any level he would have given Komp a yellow and that would have been harsh as it was barely a foul.

well rooney did one too and didn't get blown up as it was an advantage... the ref put the two hands up in a clearly indication that was the case so that meant it was a foul so a yellow was required... he did precisely the same when a certain player kicked carroll then he forgot to book him and ended up throwing a card at said player for nothing a few mins later.

I was suprised he didn't send someone form utd off to even things up but hey... that'd not be fair would it.

for me red, red by all the examples I've seen. the other rules seem to come and go but player safety is important.

they will miss kompany bady but me thinks yaya is a bigger loss.

Knowing our luck, they'll overturn it and he'll be MoM in our game.

'Oh, you're playing Liverpool next? In that case, of course we'll overturn it.'

(the above quote is a joke, btw, Berbs)
