A seson imbedded in the memory of every Norwich fan who was there to tell the tale. It was the last time we had a team better (in league standing) than we have today.

Now, football has moved on somewhat, but is see one striking similarity at our club. The players then were a bunch of relative nobody's, out side of norfolk, few knew much about any of them until they finnished 3rd in the premier league.

I'm not saying we will come close to troubling the top 6 this season, Likely not even the top 10 come May, but from what is expected of us and the way football is today, I think the achievement of the current crop has been as good so far. Long may it continue.

Funnily enough, the 'we will scored 1 more than you' attitude is also something that can be levelled at both teams.

Happy days for sure Kenny, I was only today thinking about that great night in Munich. Although I didn't go to the game my Uncle did bless him. I was visiting him today although he never knew I was there. He doesn't have much longer with us, in fact it could be any time now that he passes away

Sorry to hear that chap. Hope whatever happens, it happens in the easiest possible way for you and your family.

I did go to that game in Munich. Such a wonderful night. The pont of my post was that I actually think we could be on the brink of more great times in the history of Norwich City and the fact we have not signed a single 'recognised' Premier League footballer should not kid anyone. This transfer window I expect us to sign 2, 3 or maybe even 4 players, but breaking the bank to sign recognised names will not be necessary. It wasn't in 1992 and despite the changes to the game I really don't think it is now.

What a wonderful year that was. I think most pundits had us down for either 21st or 22nd. A lot went down to that first day of the season when Arsenal were winning 2-0. Something happened and suddenly everything gelled and 4-2 seemed easy. The team just had such little fear and such great self belief. It sometimes went wrong but Walker had great tactics focussing on fast, counter attacking football and playing one touch football along the ground. Stringer had laid the groundwork and suddenly everything fell into place.

I still believe that we should have won the title that year. Man Utd. got very lucky beating us in December and that gave them the momentum to claw us in. People forget we went back to the top in March by beating a very good Villa side and had we done the same to the red half of Manchester, we would have won the league. Still, third wasn't bad and i'll never forget leaping around the room like a loon when Andy Linighan powered in that header to send us into Europe.

    Great days

I think a great comparison between those two sides is the team spirit, no big time Charlie's & i can see how Russel Martin & Ian Culverhouse did such a brilliant job for there respective teams.

Yello... long time lurker, first time poster....

The big difference is that in 92-93 Norwich were an established top flight team.

The other big difference is that Lambert's teams get better in the second half of the season, whereas previous Norwich teams tended to fade away at Easter.

I used to be a lurker on the old 606, partly because posting there was a faff with all the moderation, but partly because a busy forum can actually be the best way to get news, and links to articles!
