I think Pardew's right in that technically it is the best goal i have ever seen, but for just sheer awesome goals, Shearer v Everton gives it a good run just for the fact of how sweet he struck it, also Albert v Man U just for the audacity and skill from a defender.

Yeah he's my favourite too. I'd have been devastated if I was old enough to remember him being sold.

It's probably the best individual goal I have witnessed at SJP while sitting in he crowd. Absolutely unbelievable. Seen beardsly score some beauty's but that for me is the best I'd say.

Sitting in the crowd made it even more special, he just kept going and going, never witnessed anything better.

As much as I adored Benny's goal I still rate Shearer's against Everton higher. Beautiful goal

The anticipation in the ground every time that Ben Arfa got the ball yesterday was unbelievable. You could feel everyone get more and more excited with every player that he went past. When he smashed it in the back of the net, me and literally everyone around where I was sat just screamed 'What a ****ing goal!' for about 5 minutes!

Its the best individual, skillful goal I've seen from one of our players, but Shearer v Everton has to be the best ever goal

In my comparatively short time watching Newcastle it is the best goal I have ever seen, just incredibly skillful, but he didnt use any tricks to beat the players - just had the ball glued to his left foot.

This is where its at, tricksters are frustrating and far less effective, messi is the best in the world because he has the best close control in the world many mistake him for a trickster when he isnt, the Hba and obertans of this game need to see this is what will take u past the opposition, too many kids these days concentrate on tricks rather than the basics of dribbling,

Exactly...Tricks(remind me, a certain Gabriel in NUFC) are worthless and rarely are they effective. Take a look at the absolute best dribblers, Messi, Iniesta. I've almost never seen them use tricks to get past defenders. On the other hand , the Nanis and Gabriels....

The ever imponderable question. Just too difficult to say because everyone has different tastes in terms of what are the best goals (some prefer pure strikes, some a bit of ridiculous skills, some a team goal etc). We have also scored some absolute pearlers down the years, Beardsley alone has 3 or 4 which could be considered alongside Benni's. One thing is undisputable though. It was a fantastic goal from an extremely talented player we need to harness.

I agree with you lads about the brilliance of Ben Arfa's goal and also why Shearer's against Everton would also be up there as a special goal.

I'm a canny bit older than most of you but can anyone remember Mark McGhee's last minute goal against Bradford(I think), it was very much on a par with Ben Arfa's.
