but **** me, that really was dire. They were what you would expect them to be- up for it and lively but lacking quality and we were second best for the vast majority of the game. I don't recall their keeper making one save and the goal was thanks to a bit of luck and some woeful goalkeeping. Cerny, Young, Hill (at a push), Faurlin and Macheda can come out of that with some credit but Gabbidon, Smith, Mackie, Campbell and most certainly Fitz ****ing Hall were abysmal in my opinion. What certainly doesn't help is all of the talk in public about new signings because these are the guys who will be thinking they won't be in the team no matter how they play but ****ing hell, in whatever mindset you are in going into a game you don't expect players to look out of their depth against League One opposition. Some of the defending today had to be seen to be believed and MK will be gutted to have not won and well up for a replay. Worst of all, Faurlin, one of few shining lights for much of the season (no matter what a few people on here say) got stretchered off. On a positive not, Helguson did well for the goal and Macheda looked lively despite being played out of position for most of the game, but we shouldn't have to rely on a 34 year-old playing above himself or a kid with a handful of first-team games. People like Bothroyd, Campbell and Smith need to play like experienced professionals because they will be needed at some point whoever we sign.
Chopping and changing the team every game is not condusive to making progress. We need to put today's line-up into perspective and half the team are not first pick and maybe will be gone by the summer if not sooner...
Thanks for truly putting this game into perspective for those of us not there today. I was really hoping that this sort of pathetic team effort would not be the case, that we would show some steel and easily ice this game.
True, but every player out there was capable of at least a top half Championship team and should have given at least a top half Championship performance. I'd like to think most of them will be disgusted with how they played but the equaliser probably papered over a few cracks in their minds as much as anything. I'm not in the 'Warnock out' brigade but that was an unacceptable level of performance.
That aside, the players selected today still had the credentials to win this game against lesser opposition!
I disagree about the goal. The keeper HAD to go for it and Helguson rightly put strength into the challenge and made it a nightmare for the keeper. He then was really composed and put the ball away at a medium difficult angle that someone panicking could easily **** up.
I guess we'll agree to disagree. For me, a professional keeper should have dealt with that. Their manager claimed Helguson was offside too.
I actually disagree about Hall. I'm his biggest critic, but I thought he was our best defender today. Having said that, they were all pretty awful!!
Don't get to many away games these days, but was looking forward to today - new ground, the chance of breaking our 11 year FA cup hex etc. I have to say I was disappointed with the team and the fans. The team were ****, but I was surprised at the fans singing 'premiership - you're having a laugh'. I guess I'm so used to us being the underdogs, its hard to get used to the raised expectations, but we didn't really help them on the pitch.
I just think a lot of people had enough mate. We were singing a lot for the first 15 mins, but once it was clear how **** we were playing, it was hard to raise a cheer tbh!
football gives us this dilema, people have different views. Im not arrogant enough to say whos right or wrong. But I'd love to be in Gabbidons head to hear what he's dreaming every sweaty Friday night .............. probably hoping for a wheeliebin nailed down to floor with 6inch nails and some lead weights to be playing alongside him saturday, would probably move faster than onesize but defintaly time its tackles the same as onesize
As you say...we all have different views. People slate Gabbidon too, but I think he's been a good buy. I don't rate Hall much, but I thought he defended well today and was never done for pace!
Couldnt make the game today but dont we all agree now that NW has lost the dressing room, even Watford seems a little disallusioned tonight.NW has to go the players havent got a clue what there supposed to be doing.DJ has been on the bench all season and warnock gives him a start with Macheada.Hes only just met him 4 F***S sake.NW tatics leave me bewildered.TF,please change things now or we are down.
I dont blame the players,NW has his faves at the club and anyone who is not a fave gets blanked. That comes from a very reliable source and I dont mean CernyB.
Rangers,we all want the best for the club and we all have our own ideas what should or shouldnt happen but if this forum is a soundboard for the clubs predicament then we are all beginning to sound the same.
