Montpellier sensation Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa admits he is flattered with the interest being shown in him.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the 22-year-old revealed he is pleased to learn the likes of French champions Lille and Newcastle are both reported to be following him.

Born in the Central African Republic, Yanga-Mbiwa is a France Under-21 international and has emerged as one of the most highly-rated young defenders in Europe.

"I am flattered by the interest from the French champions, but there is no agreement between the clubs, so I am still here with Montpellier," he told Sky Sports.

"Newcastle are interested? Well it means my performances have crossed the country.

"My dream league has always been the Premier League, so you never know.

"But for me if Montpellier have to agree a fee with a team, then who knows? But I would love to play one day in England."

Sounds like he would prefer to come to us if we got an offer accepted :D

The way that quote is formulated it looks like this was the first he had heard of any potential interest.

He'd be a fantastic addition. And that's the problem - loads of teams will probably be in for him. He's their captain at 22 and broke into the first team at seventeen; he's younger than me FFS!

Someone posted this a few days ago, but he seems like a very decent prospect.

He's too good to sit on the bench.

think they'll be looking for someone to partner Carrick or Fletcher in central midfield.
