The lads were tired, but got the job done - My thoughts on the game

Most of the players today looked a bit off the pace. Jonas looked completely knackered, Williamson was very slow to react at times.

I think it's time we took off Obertan, and stuck HBA on the RW. I'm sorry but 4-4-1-1 with Best up by himself will not work. We need to play 4-4-2. We have a few players that can put a decent ball in, but Best in the box by himself will just get swamped. Best is good but he needs another player up with him.

Here's what I think the line up should be for now

Hatem looks very dangerous running down the middle, but he can also make fantastic runs into the box from the wing, and he can also cross the ball in well. Obertan is just pissing me off now. Ben Arfa deserves to start games now. He's done nothing but produce in most of his games. Setting up chances, assists and getting goals. HBA's pace isn't in the same league as Ober's, but that means **** all. HBA knows how to beat players, and despite being a bit frustrating at times, a few times every game he will produce a moment of magic.

That has got to be one of the best individual goals of the season from anyone in this league. Amazing run and great finish.

My ratings -

Krul - 6.5 - Didn't have to do much really. Could do **** all about their goal, made a couple of decent stops.

Simpson - 7 - I thought he was good. The bloke has to do everything on the right wing when playing with Alien.

Raylor - 6.5 - Got caught out at times, but some great deliveries into the box. Did quite well.

Williamson - 7 - Did well in the air, his reactions were a little bit slow at times, but overall he did well.

Colo - 7.5 - Good performance.

Santon - 8 - Did well under big pressure in times during the match. That big black bloke, I thought was just going to run straight through him, but Davide did very well. One of our best players today.

Ober - 2 - ffs

Abeid - 7 - Promising signs. I'd still rather have Guthrie at the moment, but he put in some great challenges and did a good job.

Cabaye - 7 - Good performance.

Jonas - 7 - He looked quite knackered, probably due to the Manure game, but a great last minute winner to stop us from having to travel to Ewood park yet again.

HBA - 9 - Definitely MOTM. Created some fantastic chances, scared the piss out of Blackburn, and IMO that's got to be goal of the season so far. Skinned like 6-7 players, and a fantastic finish. ****ING START HIM FROM NOW ON PARDEW! I know we wanted him to play behind the striker, but we need someone better on the RW and HBA is 10x the player Ober is.

Best - 6 - Not bad but not good either. Still going to get behind him. Howay Besty lad.

Shola - 6 - Caused a few problems, some decent passing and build up play at times. Not bad. I expected him to finish that chance, because he's a good finisher really, it's just his overall play that normally lets him down.

Overall - Not a great performance, but we could have won that game 5/6-1 on another day. The chances were there we were just a little bit shakey when it came to finishing. On another day Shola would have scored, Cabaye would have as well. Two clearances off the line by Blackburn.

MOTM - HBA - He showed Pardew that he deserves more games.

 

Laughed so much at Obers rating and reason. I reckon he could play in the hole behind Besty or Shambles

 

The fact that you put your formation diagrams the wrong way around to EVERYONE else is just one of the many reasons why you annoy me.

 

Best needs a run in the team give him another 2 games at least

 

How was it not a great performance? We absolutely pulverised them, could have been 3-0 up in 10 mins, and scored 2 fantastic goals. We created a lot and looked solid defensively.

Ben Arfa's goal would probably rank in the top 3 goals I've ever seen at SJP.

 

Ober will come good, we just need to support him when he plays even if we feel he shouldn't start, he would be great as an impact sub

Heard good things about Jonas, Santon and Simpson performances on twitter.

Williamson was also unlucky not to get a couple of goals according to the commentator on the radio.

Overall, we're through to the 4th round.

 

It's so good to have Tash back. Just to see some of your excellent put downs!

 

We pulverized Blackburn, but It wasn't a great performance overall IMO.

HBA was the only one really threatening Blackburn in the first half.

 

Does it not piss you guys off as well though? Whenever I see one of Tash's dumbass formation things I wonder what the hell he's talking about because I see players on the wrong side, and then I realise that he's YET AGAIN put the formation the wrong way around to everyone else.

Interesting to see Benny celebrating in our away strip with Ba and Obertan who weren't on the pitch.

Yeah, I noticed that! Shows how much the Beeb really cared about the game today. Not even bothering to send a photographer up to SJP.

 

He's just a novice at team pornations, he hasn't done very many yet, he'll get better with practise.
