With 15 goals this season, Deba Ba rightly has taken all the accolades afforded the countries top scorer. However, both him and Tiote are out for the next 4 weeks at least and maybe longer. I read that they will miss 6 games.

The question is now can they cope without such prolific goalscorer that has accounted for over 50% of their total goals. Its not just the goals though because Ba is also the focal point of the attack and pulls defenders about to allow others to score.

Can Best, Lovenkrands or either Amadonkey brother fill the void?

I think the Blackburn game is going to be a huge test of resources and will let other clubs have a look at what a Ba free barcode team are all about. I've listened to the first 30 mins of the game and the one huge thing that is being said by the commentators is the lack of forward threat. Best is playing as a lone striker, at home to Blackburn in the FA Cup? You wont win many games with that formation.

Oh and they are 1-0 down as well now. Lol

Does look like they are very reliant on him scoring the goals. Never know Shamiobi might just come good.

I'm not listening to the game, but I'm interested how the two teams that have recently toppled a very under par Man U side fare...

I think they will be able to cope, remember they only need 7 points for that magic 40 point mark, will they be a force in the next 6 games, probably not, Win 4 draw 2 type form, but i do think they are more than capable of getting the 7 points to take them to 40.

Mind you we were on a similar points tally last year at this time (cant remember exactly how many) and look what happened to us, so you just never know.

yep 33 points 5th January 2011, so exactly the same.

It's simple. We know Ba is the best striker we have, so the naturally best tactic would be to give the ball to him so he can apply the finish. It's what our players do. Why would anyone take a punt on goal when Ba is there and in exquisite goalscoring form? The logical choice is to give it to him.

With him out, the team can change tactics and other players can start having a go. There isn't such a need to funnel the ball to one player anymore, so with Ben Arfa pulling the strings, Best and the other plays can build up attacks and get themselves in the right places.

Note that, since MoN took over, 7 or 8 different players have scored for you. Compare that to only 2 or 3 players for us as Ba has been such a big focus.

When we lost Bent, our whole game plan went tits up as we didn't know what to do to actually score without him and I think the craas will have the same problem. They are just so used to Ba conjuring up a piece of magic or a snap shot from nothing they havent had to think about how to actual stick the ball in the net.

The good thing of course for them is hos abscence is temporarym, unless Ashley fancies cashing in this month and they can pick it back up in 5 or 6 weeks time again. The thing is, if you go on a bad run in that time, even his goal scoring ability will be tested when he comes back.

Let's not start talking about attendances eh... Do I need to compare our average league attendances when we were in the championship and you were in the premier league? Please no , I've done it enough times already!

We won 2-1 btw and we're unlucky not to score a few more.

Don't you worry about us mate <ok>

Some people just cant help themselves can they and they are ALWAYS the same ones. Lol

And it seems that we have another barcode regular that wasnt at the match. All mouth and no action mags. Whats your excuses lads for not going the the 3rd round of the FA Cup, at home, on a Saturday afternoon on a 3pm kick off. Armchair supportrs really are the worst arent they?

Oh and well done barcodes on the win against the mighty Blackburn. It seems that you can score without the Ba. Lol

Is this the Amadonkey who invariably score against your good selves? The same Amadonkey who has played 41 European games for us scoring 19 goals, many in the Champions League? That Amadonkey? <whistle>

I rate Best. When he's our main striker and not playing as a foil/water carrier/target man to feed Demba Ba he gets goals. And HBA will finally get his moment to shine (goal of the season contender today btw).

The rest of our strikers are utter ****, it has to be said. I'd play Ranger in front of either Ameobi brother and Lovenkrands if he wan't a ****er and injured.

We'll obviously miss Ba a lot, any team would miss a striker in this kind of form, but I reckon we've got enough to see us through and we can take a lot of heart from the fact we have Iron Mike back in defense and Santon is starting to look awesome.

I'll be ****ting myself if Cabaye gets injured though, as Guthrie's already out and we're missing Tiote obviously.

Average attendance for that season is pretty bloody close though, not really getting into an argument but

    Newcastle 41,500

    Sunderland 40,353

Your last 3 home matches though boosted that a lot, when you were already champions

    Sheffield Utd FLC 2-1 48,270
    Blackpool FLC 4-1 47,010
    Ipswich Town FLC 2-2 52,181

So you think he is a good player then do you? I think he is Pele because every time he plays against us, he plays out of his skin but my mags mates all tell me he is pure **** 99% of the time. If you think he is better than Milburn, Ferdinand, McDonald, Shearer, Cole etc thats fine because by your own benchmarks here, Amadonkey has scored more derby goals than any of them and played in Europe more than most as well.

Still, its a game of opinions I guess. Yours on this occsasion, with this argument, is worthless btw.

He IS utter **** 99% of the time but he seems to produce some moments of magic when the chips are down.

Nar mate, he's the most infuriating player I know. Plays brilliantly at times then strolls around looking totally uninterested for the next few games. Probably like Jones did for you. Should be much better than he is. <ok>

Does he REALLY produce moments of magic though?

I've never seen anything particularly spectacular from the guy which few other strikers would be able to do. Basically, it seems to be a case of if you fling enough ****, some of it will eventually stick.
