He has discovered that you can edit other people's comments and has taken to replying WITHIN their original post, not sure why?

I've been away for the last week, but started a similar thread about a nasty element I felt were present at the Walsall game, I don't recall such problems last season, sadly as we've improved on the pitch, we've attracted a few d***heads as well.

AH ponders! I was witness to all this during the orient game! It was rather horrible and I felt like scum just being near those people!

Did you hear those 2 men going at it just before that incident. One bloke told another off for slagging off BWP all game, and it ended up in a rather embarrassing handbags fight.

    Why can't people grow up?

Nick - I saw that little handbags moment regarding BWP. Those two really need to grow up. It was cringeworthy to say the least. But the Lisbie row was nasty and right next to where I was situated. I felt sickened by those idiots and felt the need to intervene - something that I tend not to get involved in anymore. But when an old fellow is abused, the line has been crossed.

IA - your stance on the CL site is very admirable.

    Watch this space for updates...

I agree it was vile and should not have happened. makes me wonder who said

'Football is a tribal affair. What goes on in the stadium should stay in the stadium'.

If it offends anyone they should act, should they not?

I don't really get the point of your post, Ralph.

I did indeed say that football is a tribal affair, and stand by that notion. I love nothing more than two sets of supporters exchanging banter. But this fracas was a matter of in-fighting and had reached a level where an elderly gentleman was threatened with physical abuse. There is a great difference between that and faceless groups throwing insults over a fair distance.

Not wanting to disagree with what you did or said as I totally agree with your actions and applaud you for them. It was just that you were the person who said what goes on in the stadium should stay in the stadium. My point is that people get tipped over the edge at different times. Some by chants and others by more physical actions.

My view on the problems with football today.

In the past football was a reflection of society or certainly regional problems.

Since then many rules have influenced football, including family friendly areas as just one small example. However, I believe what really has happened is these behaviours and feelings have been suppressed and nothing has really changed but just been hidden.

Proof of this in looking at behaviours, take the recent riots as just one angle of the affair, law of averages must suggest many of those would be football supporters of a club.

Away behaviours will not change unless they are suppressed in the same manner as they are at home, otherwise the historical side of football will reappear.

Although beware over suppression of people causes rule breaking in itself. Tell someone they cannot have a cigarette and they probably will if the opportunity arises.
