I have read all the bullshit and clap trap about O'Neill and his man management skills and tactics but it all covers two basic facts that simply cant be argued with. 1.Bruce was a Geordie and because of that was always there to be kicked. 2.Bruce was a excellent man manager and tactical genious, he was simply unlucky. Now go on all you BoB's argue against those simple truths if you can, what, you cant, thought not. We have had far to much happiness and agreement on here of late.
Well Syd I am a Geordie and I resent the point that all geordies are skunks! SB perhaps as a kid was a mag if he supported anyone today it is probably manure who he captained and led to leagues etc. SB had to go cos' he was losing too many games, football as we are all reminded is a'results' business and SB did not get many results all through 2011. Now that may have been partly down to bad luck, but who wants an unlucky manager, However the other factors were not replacing a forward line of Welbeck, Gyan and Bent. If last summer instead of the players he spent the cash on if he had brought in a couple of experienced strikers SB would probably still be our manager. Another factor was his inability to motivate the team, heavens alone knows what he said at half time but often the team came out with their heads down and were useless, not to mention the performance against the skunks he seemed paralysed by the occasions and so were the team. Another factor was tactics he could not seem to get them and subs right and 'O' he thought Elmo was up to EPL standard.
4 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat in his forst 6 games tells its own tale. I wonder what Bruce is thinking about all of this whilst he sits and counts his compensation? Or if he actually thinks about it at all. My opinion is that he has forgotten us already and will be only thinking of himself and his hurt pride, not the humiliation we have endured in the derby games and generally the whole of last year. MoN has connected with the club, inside 5 weeks, in way I dont think Bruce ever did, could or really wanted to. There are no conflicts of interest and there is a genuine affection there. We got bloody lucky lads imo. Verry bloody lucky.
Syd. There is NO difference in one major point. You've got the SAME players, so WTF were they thinking of before O'Neil arrived?
martin oneill isnt on the pitch ,you have the same players on there ?? it could be good timing ?? look at steve kean he is in the firing line but beat manure? ,its early days for the great oneill yet ,who have you actually played in the last 6 ??
Was it ever disclosed how much compensation he got? I still find it strange that failure to succeed or attain targets results in getting a large payout.
