http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/story-14343916-detail/story.html? He's obviously a bit gutted about calling time on his playing career, but it's good to get things firmed up. Congratulations Nick.
Good news indeed, I have been inpressed with his thought process and comments, he obviously has a clear vision of where he want to take the club and how the game needs to be played.
The Allam's must have assured him about the future plans etc ..... If it's good enough for Nicky it's good enough for me !!!! All the best Nicky
I REALLY hope Nicky is a success and I also hope it is with us. But he has an awful lot to learn yet and I think there will be lot of issues to face and overcome this season before anyone, including himself, can say "Yep, I can do this job". Pearson left a good squad behind and a team playing well, so it won't be easy for Nick to maintain that and develop it; sometimes it's easier to begin at a failing club where expectations are not so high. I just hope that when the choppy waters come, the PROPER fans tell the currently quiet Moaning Hull Barstewards to shut the phuck up and get behind the manager, for they will surely get on his case as they always do when things aren't going well.
Lets hope things go well for Nick this season. The problem will be when things dip a bit (as they always do) and the lunatics get on his back. Being a local person who lives in the community full time (with his family) that can be very difficult. So lets all give this genuine lad a decent chance and our full support. His knowledge and experience of the game is there and his common sense approach should take him and the club a long way. These are good times and we should be thankful and enjoy them. All the best Nicky. UTT.
Well said Chilts, I endorse all you've said. I suspect he will get support from many of the excellent contacts that he has made in the game, it's rumoured that he has recently been seen with Terry Venables, if that's true then he'll be getting the best advice going. Congratulations and all the very best Nick UTT
Why not we should honor what the guy gave up for his home town club and offered many years service. I think it would be a great send off and a chance for one last run out at the KC.
I dont see why he should call time on his playing career this season at least ? Nick can still do a job off the bench and who knows what will be needed before this season ends. Its not as though he would be a regular player/manager but as Nick showed in the Cardiff game he can do it when it matters most. I thought Nick might give himself a spot on the bench saturday ? Oh well if you are done for good Nick thanks for the memories and the goals. At least your last goal for the club was a match winning goal (Cardiff City 2-1) against one of our rivals. All the very best in management and at least you know the path you want to follow and the type of football you want all Hull City teams to play. Its looking great Nick.
He's always said that the time managment takes from him makes it impossible for him to be a player as well, there's no way he's taken this decision lightly. We all know he loves football and Hull City so if he thinks it's better for the club that he retires now (a massive sacrifice and selfless move) then i trust that decision.
No argument and yes Nick knows best. But from the outside i just feel that maybe in one or two games Nick off the bench will be needed. Hope that i am wrong. But the last 3 games City played were in dire need of Nick off the bench. imo.
