RVP really has scored almost all of the goals this calender year. this is of all competitions: RVP - 42 Walcott - 8 Arshavin - 5 Bendtner - 5 Gervinho - 4 Arteta - 3 Vermaelen - 3 Ramsey - 3 Nasri - 3 Benayoun - 3 Fabregas - 3 Santos - 2 Chamakh - 2 Koscielny - 2 Chamberlain - 2 Diaby - 1 Djourou - 1 Eboue - 1 Song - 1 Squillaci - 1 Clichy - 1 etc.
Frightening, isn't it? Yes I appreciate that he needed the assists but he too has provided them for others. I shudder to think where we would be in his absence. Thanks for the stats Drudeboy I read or heard somewhere that RvP's tally was 48 from 57 games but that may possibly include internationals. Still, quite an awesome achievement.
It's not unlikely that another striker would have scored goals in RVP's place, but I do agree that we are heavily reliant on him. I think another striker is a priority.
Actually I would have thought that some of the others may have scored more. However in the first half of this season, the others barely get above 3 with Gervinho topping them with 4 while RvP is on 17. In the second half of the previous season, since we hardly scored much from the end of February onwards, then I wouldn't be surprised if Walcott has bagged only 5 during that time, making his tally 8 for the calendar year of 2011. Nasri virtually stopped performing and has waved goodbye to us in any case so I'm not at all surprised at RvP's tally and the way it compares with everyone else's.
i was surprised by fabregas' goals. these figures are off the arsenal website, where it breaks it down into competitions. fabregas did not score ANY PL goals in 2011
Now that sounds like an interesting exercise. Quite a lot for one person to have to work through though. If we share the load it is not impossible. We don't have to draw up a huge list. Perhaps the top 6 or 7 scorers per club may suffice. As there are probably a good dozen or so active members here, each one taking two teams would easily get the job done. If we take EPL teams alphabetically, I could continue Mr Drudeboy's excellent work by taking Aston Villa and Birmingham for the second half of 2010/2011 and again Villa and this time Blackburn for the 2011/2012 half season. Next two clubs could be Blackpool and Blackburn / Blackburn and Bolton and to follow Bolton/Chelsea and Chelsea/Everton What say you pals?
Wasn't he injured or on leave in some way through part of the second half of the season Drudes? Things sure look more glaring when you put them down on paper!!!
Walcott has done ok. Alot better than most people make out. 8 goals and 14 assists is a decent return although he should have scored more. Gervinho should have at least 10-15 already.- his finishing is crazy! Still we are badly missing Fabregas and Wilshere - seem to struggle to keep possession the way we used to.. oh well at least Wilshere will return soon The worry is RVP's injury record, if he gets injured there is NO CHANCE of a top four finish.
I don't think that's the case, chances are that IF RVP gets injured everyone else will just step it up, right now alot of players are thinking "**** it, pass it to robin" so without him they'll take more responsibility and come together more as a team and who knows, Park/chamakh might suddenly become amazing! It was the same when Henry left, everyone said we'd be ****ed etc, but just before it was clearly pass it to henry was our tactic, then the season he left we were inches off winning the title
You know what else is scary....check out who has appeared the most (ok, lots are as substitue but still!) Arsenal appearances 2011 Andrey Arshavin 51 Robin van Persie 48 Wojciech Szczesny 47 Laurent Koscielny 46
