I decided a few years ago having smoked since I was 6 yep SIX, what ever damage it had done was already done.
I enjoy smoking and it is one of my few vices, which has never actually caused me any health problems.
I smoke Old Holborn, by choice and cigars like cigarettes. :)
The only thing the smoking ban has done has stopped me filling random landlords wallets. :p

  2. Ditto MR & all through when I boxed in the 70's 80's I got through a good 20 pack of Rothmans and still was good for a 15 round scrap. Seeing my lady as she is and seeing my Ella as she is (2) I need to know that I can be stronger for them and around a bit longer than a pack of 20 cigs and my lifestyle from the past is raising its head. I have seen so much medical stuff over the last 2 and a half years through Lollie that the ***s is something I can do without. Like I said, stopped for 5 months early last year and never felt better in fact fancied a comeback ha ha..

Need to stop, for me, for them, for all..

I don't smoke in front of the Grandbairns, even when they are in my house. (Doesn't stop them following me when I nip out for a ***. :p)

To answer the OP McMenemy by a ****ing country mile.
The only twat ever to send us to the third tier of English Football whilst pocketing the highest wage of any manager in England at the time.
    Totally clueless Geordie ****.

I packed in smoking when my eldest kid was three years old so I wouldn't be setting a bad example...He is seventeen now and hates the thought of smoking so at least I have done something right eh...

Alan Brown. For those who remember, it's unnecessary to give any reason. I'd smack that tw*t in the kidney if I saw him today for what he did to this club.

Someone mentioned him on the three bellends radio show just before Christmas.

Horses swill went down the guys throat, defending Brown to the hilt.

Billy, you've got me - I don't know where to start! I'll restrict this to two facts, but believe me, us owld codgers could fill ten pages with it. (1) The first season he was here, a whole team of internationals walked out of the club. Some were getting on a bit - Charlie Fleming, for example, went as player-manager to Bath City. But not all of them - Bingham and McDonald faced each other in an FA Cup Final eighteen months later. About the only quality left was Stan Anderson. That season was the first time Sunderland were ever relegated. (2) The last season he was here, the crowds at Roker dropped to 8,500. Can you imagine 8,500 in Roker Park? Christ, it was like a morgue in there! Within four months of taking over from him, Bob Stokoe had 53,000 in that same ground (v. Man. C)!

Whatever Horswill said, facts like that just cannot ever forgive it.

True, those are indeed the facts. Horswill went down the callers throat, telling him he didn't have a clue what he was talking about. The lad repeated about 10 times that Brown took us down twice, this all seemed lost on Mickey who just kept saying that Brown was like a father to him.

It's a **** show but I just can't help myself tuning in. I quite like Slaven but the other two are a pair of knobs.

Yeah, well maybe Mickey's talking about a different aspect of this. I never met Brown. For all I know, he might have been a very nice man. I mean, Josef Stalin was said to have murdered 12 million of his own people - and yet that same man doted on his daughter, Svetlana! Stalin was one of the kindest Dads in history! So maybe Brown was like a father to Mickey, but he was an absolute curse of a manager. I don't ever remember such a biting, vicious hatred for any manager as there was in Sunderland for that man at the time. McMenemy let us down very badly, but there wasn't that edge to it even then.

The caller basically said that, he may well have been a good bloke but was crap at his job. That's when Mickey cut him off.

I think maybe cutting him off was the only answer he had left, Billy. At the time, we were fourth from bottom of the Championship on goal difference, and joint second bottom on points. Mickey Horswill was in that team and he knows very well what our league position was. The caller was dead right in that respect.

Has everyone forgot Mick Buxton? Suppose he wasn't the worst manager ever at Sunderland (Which shows how bad we've been!) but he at least deserves a mention.

Not so much the worst manager (Although I wasn't a fan) I'd have to say I've hated the Mick McCarthy era more than any other in the 15 years I've been going to watch Sunderland. Even in the championship when we were battling away at the top of the league I never enjoyed it, probably just a hangover of what happened just before he came in though.

Micky Horswill...<doh>...Seems like a decent enough bloke, but doesn't seem to have a clue what is going on at our club, and comes out with some really stupid comments..
When I listen to that show (which is rare these days) I often find myself cringing with the comments from those three...

Lawrie McMenemy is by a million miles the biggest twat I've ever see in the managers hot seat since 1974/5 season. He was the single biggest and most expensive pail of horse **** ever to manage the club imo and led us to our lowest ever ebb in our glorious history.

Oh and he was another stinking black & white bastard as well.

On the 3 bell ends show, I NEVER listen to it these days. Been listening to Marco & Benno (real SAFC legends that know their stuff) and Jon Anderson (a very astute and good bloke) on BBC since it started and I like the show a lot. Its far more intelligent and informative and all the pundits are interesting to listen to. McDrunk and Horse-swill are just a pair of old, has been arseholes, although Slaven is okay.

BBC NE Talk Sport = The Guardian newspaper of phone In's
3 Bell ends = The Daily Star
