    Interesting we were (apparently) after another midfielder. Anyone think on the sly (Pardew keeping his cards close to his chest) we may sign 3 or 4? or am I just deluded?

    I'm hoping that he'll spring a couple of surprises. but they'll be livid that the cats out of the bag that we're after a midfielder as well now as prices will go up.

    Not bothered how many we sign. If we sign a centre back and nobody else (as long as we don't sell key players that is) then I will be happy

    £5.8M is his release clause so we must have been reasonably close to that.

    Think we'll get a CB for definite and maybe a striker (still think we may get one, Pardew being sly)

    Interesting really, he said we are only signing a CB and ST at most. Then said no striker is comeing in and claimed we would only bring 1 player in. He is currently bidding for 2 players in this bloke and Tomkins so im thinking we will be plesently surprised come the end of january.

    Looks fairly promising that we might sign this lad in the summer, rather than january. Don't know a lot about him but sounds pretty good

    Everywhere i looked had this guy as a defensive midfielder... yet he's their top scorer i think?

    Either way, Pardew dismissed this story in the lastest press conference.

    So who knows whether its true or not.

    *Cough*FootballManager*Cough*. See how many players went Brazilian Serie A or Argentinian Prem straight to the EPL, there's limited success. Forlan, Veron, Daniel Cordone, the list goes on. Players like Suarez etc find their way in the mid-European Leagues - Holland, Belgium, occasionally Italy or France, and come good a few years down the line.
