Ferguson sold Ronaldo and Beckham at their peek, yet he's one of the most successful managers of all time. We spent £17m on Owen, £9.5 on Luque and Boumsong and they were ****e. We sold Carroll for £35m and have looked the better team for it...

I think it probably refers to both our players, i.e we are not going to sell on the cheap and purchases, in that we aren't going to be held to ransom or pay well over the odds.

Also it would be great to get through a transfer window without all the Ashley is going to sell all our best players and pocket all the cash bullshit. Wouldn't it!?

    I noticed. ;)

I think it was more a forlorn hope that it would stop at that. Wishful thinking I guess!

He's trying to deter bidders by saying that we'll be difficult to negotiate and that we overvalue our players.

If we can continue to do more business like Carroll, any money we save goes towards paying off Ashley's loan, so dont be so stupid as to expect him to make a loss every window, otherwise we're just going to be left with a ridiculous debt whenever he leaves. The more of it he can trim away the better.

This. Plus (sorry to repeat this yet again) but under the Fairplay regs the club will have to build an interest charge expense into the Break Even calculation based upon the loans to MA. The higher the loan the greater the expense, the greater the expense the bigger the financial handicap towards us meeting the requirements and qualifying for europe (should we ever get the chance to be there again).

It is important that each year we make some profit, don't spend it all on players and actually pay back some of the loan.

This loan repayment portion is what I think some of our fans like to call "lining the fat **** Ashley's pockets".

People forget Ashley rejected numerous bids for Carroll before finally succumbing to £35m, including a one of £30m. I'm also firmly in the camp that believe Carroll's agent forced through the move, whispering sweet nothings in his ear akin to an evil angel on his shoulder. I actually feel slightly sorry for him now, it's clear to me the guy never really wanted to go but was under enormous pressure from all parties in order to do so.

As for Pardew's comments, he clearly means outgoings. £35m was stupid money for a player that we acquired through the Youth Academy and it will take stupid money for anyone else to leave. I only hope Ashley/Llambiarse realise the gem of a player we have in Ba. If we sold Tiote for £25m+ I'd be able to get over it, if we let Ba go for anything under £30m I'll be weeping into my pints for months to come. The guy looks like he could be as good as Drogba, and I'm not even over-exaggerating.

I completely agree re: Ba, he is as good as I have seen - Shearer aside - since Cole on current form, utterly unplayable with so many facets to his game.

However, this is how things will pan out as soon as he misses one game through injury.

HERE MAN ASHLEY BOUGHT A CHEAP CROCK TO REPLACE CARROLL MAN, HE HAS PUT ALL THE MONEY IN HIS POCKET AND IS LAUGHING AT US. BA IS ****E, HE WAS A CROCK, WE ONLY SIGN CROCKS, WHERE IS THE ANDY CARROLL MONEY?

Actually, I might invest in that statement and sell it to Chronicle posters for a quid so they can copy and paste it at will, avoiding having to spell difficult words like 'Ba' and 'is', I'd make a killing, as they're all sat there wringing they're hands waiting to be proved 'right'.
